After earning critical praise during its premiere at the first-ever SXSW London, the bold new documentary STANS—produced by Eminem—will make its worldwide debut in cinemas this August. In the U.S., the film will screen exclusively at AMC Theatres (NYSE:AMC) from August 7 through August 10, offering audiences a limited-time opportunity to experience the project on the big screen.
Raw, emotional, and unexpectedly humorous, STANS takes an unconventional look at Eminem’s monumental career, framed through the perspective of his most dedicated fans. These real-life “stans”—a term now rooted in pop culture thanks to Eminem’s 2000 hit of the same name—offer deeply personal reflections that echo the themes in his lyrics. The influence of the song “Stan” has endured to the point where the word was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017.
Rather than a traditional artist profile, the film dives into the layered dynamic between Eminem’s fiercely guarded personal life and his larger-than-life public persona. Using dramatic reenactments, rare behind-the-scenes footage, and new intimate interviews, STANS paints a vivid picture of the mutual bond between an icon and his global fanbase.
The film explores how Eminem’s work has left an indelible mark on fans’ lives, chronicling stories of transformation, healing, and connection through music.
AMC Theatres will showcase the film at over 135 locations across the United States. Each participating venue will offer at least two daily screenings during the engagement, and a special week-long awards-qualifying run is planned for AMC Empire 25 in New York City. Because of its limited run, STANS will not be part of the AMC Stubs A-List program, and ticket pricing will vary by market.
For audiences outside the U.S., Trafalgar Releasing will handle international distribution, bringing STANS to over 1,600 theaters in more than 50 countries starting August 7. Complete global screening information will be posted at stansmovie.com on Thursday, July 24, at 2 p.m. BST.
Eminem’s influence in music is undeniable: with over 164 million albums sold and 110 billion global streams, he was the top-selling artist of the 2000s according to Nielsen SoundScan, and was named Billboard’s Artist of the Decade for that same era. Over his career, he has earned 15 GRAMMY® Awards, an Academy Award®, and multiple historic milestones—including becoming the first rapper with platinum-certified albums across four decades. His latest release, The Death of Slim Shady, dropped on July 12, 2024, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and marking his eleventh consecutive studio album to do so.
Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker and journalist Steven Leckart, STANS is produced by Eminem alongside longtime manager Paul Rosenberg, Stuart Parr, Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, and David Schiff. Production companies include DIGA Studios in collaboration with Shady Films, Fuqua Films, Interscope Films, and MTV Entertainment Studios. Executive producers for MTV are Bruce Gillmer, Amanda Culkowski, and Michael Maniaci.
Tickets for the U.S. theatrical release are on sale now through the AMC mobile app, AMCTheatres.com, and other authorized ticketing platforms. International tickets become available on July 24.
Coinciding with the film, STANS: THE OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK will also be released, featuring music central to the film’s narrative—including never-before-heard tracks. Pre-orders for the soundtrack are currently open in the U.S.
