INsiders Guide ‘Artist Of The Week’: Sofia Camara Shares ‘Parking Lot’

Emerging pop sensation Sofia Camara makes her return today with her newest single, “Parking Lot”—a poignant, autobiographical ballad that captures the raw emotions of growing up. Featuring lush string arrangements, gentle piano lines, and an intense emotional crescendo, the track draws comparisons to the early works of Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae.

Reflecting on the song, Sofia shares, “‘Parking Lot’ was born from those moments where grief and anger intertwine, making it hard to distinguish whether you’re upset at someone or just mourning their absence. It explores the mental contortions we go through to shield ourselves—sometimes painting someone as the villain just to make it easier to let go. It’s about embracing the messy, honest parts of healing—the tears in the car, the words we don’t mean, and the fragile hope we cling to when we know something has ended. It’s real, it’s imperfect, and I believe many will see themselves in it.”

Produced and co-written with acclaimed collaborators Mike Wise, Nathan Ferraro, and Lowell—who also worked with Sofia on her breakout hit “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)”—“Parking Lot” continues her fruitful partnership with the award-winning team. Her recent collaboration with Wise, Ferraro, and Lowell on “Girls Like You” garnered notable praise, including airplay on BBC Radio 1 Future Pop, with Jodie Bryant calling it “the perfect pop song.” Fans can watch her perform “Girls Like You” on VEVO here.

With “Parking Lot,” Sofia reaffirms her reputation as one of pop’s most compelling young balladists. The release comes just ahead of her debut festival appearances this weekend—performing on the main stage at Osheaga in Montreal on Saturday and at Lollapalooza’s BMI stage in Chicago on Sunday. Last month, Sofia delighted fans with a Spotify Singles release, including an acoustic rendition of “Girls Like You” and a cover of Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True,” further solidifying her growing presence on the platform, where she now boasts over 2 million monthly listeners.

Due to overwhelming demand, Sofia’s October UK and European headline tour has been expanded. She will now perform at Manchester’s Deaf Institute, Glasgow’s Òran Mór, London’s Electric Brixton, and Birmingham’s O2 Academy 2, along with eight additional dates across Europe.
