A new spin-off featuring Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently under development.
The Spider-Verse universe, brought to life by Sony Pictures Animation, launched in 2018 with the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. This was followed by the 2023 sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and a third installment, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is already scheduled for release in June 2027. According to Deadline, plans are underway for a film centered around Daniel Kaluuyaâs character, Spider-Punk, who first appeared in Across the Spider-Verse.
This upcoming project will be co-written by Kaluuya himself alongside Ajon Singh. Specific story details remain under wraps, and at this stage, no additional casting or character appearances from previous films have been confirmed.
Spider-Punk, also known as Hobie Brown, was created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel and made his Marvel Comics debut in The Amazing Spider-Man issue #10 in 2015. Operating from Earth-138, this version of Spider-Man is an anarchist musician who wields an electric guitar and fights against systemic corruption, corporations, and governments. The filmâs release date has not been announced, but since itâs still in early development, fans can likely expect it after the release of Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Beyond the Spider-Verse will continue from the cliffhanger ending of Across the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales, voiced by Shameik Moore, finds himself on Earth-42, where he encounters a sinister version of himselfâalso Prowlerâvoiced by Jahrrel Jerome. Returning characters include Hailee Steinfeldâs Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman, Jason Schwartzman as Dr. Johnathon Ohnn/The Spot, and Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India.
The release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in U.S. theaters is set for June 25, 2027.
