Vertical has unveiled the first trailer for Dead of Winter, an intense new action thriller headlined by Academy Award winner Emma Thompson. After debuting to audiences at the Locarno Film Festival, the film is set to hit theaters on September 26, 2025.
The story follows a grieving loner whose journey takes a deadly turn during a blizzard in rural Minnesota. Stranded near a frozen lake, she seeks refuge at a secluded cabin — only to uncover a chilling scene: a young woman being held captive by a dangerous, armed couple with murderous intentions. Cut off from the outside world and without cell service, she becomes the hostage’s sole chance at survival.
