Amazon has unveiled the debut trailer for Hedda, an upcoming drama featuring Tessa Thompson and Imogen Poots.
The trailer showcases Hedda, a modern take on Henrik Ibsen’s iconic play Hedda Gabler. The film is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, followed by a limited theatrical release on October 22, 2025, before streaming on Prime Video starting October 29.
Directed and written by Nia DaCosta, known for The Marvels and Candyman, Hedda boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, Nina Hoss, Finbar Lynch, Mirren Mack, Jamael Westman, Saffron Hocking, and Kathryn Hunter.
According to the official synopsis: “From writer-director Nia DaCosta comes a bold, contemporary reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic. Hedda (Tessa Thompson) is caught between the haunting pull of a past romance and the stifling confines of her current life. In the course of a single, intense night, suppressed desires and buried tensions unravel, drawing her and those around her into a whirlwind of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.”
