A behind-the-scenes image from the set of Star Wars: Starfighter, the upcoming Lucasfilm film directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine), has been unveiled. The movie, starring Ryan Gosling (The Fall Guy), is slated for a 2027 release.
Production for Star Wars: Starfighter has officially kicked off in the UK, with the official Star Wars Twitter account sharing a first-look photo featuring Gosling and co-star Flynn Gray’s characters. The ensemble cast also includes Matt Smith (House of the Dragon), Mia Goth (Pearl), Aaron Pierre (Lanterns), Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners), Jamael Westman (The Essex Serpent), Daniel Ings (The Gentlemen), and Amy Adams (Man of Steel), who will portray the mother of Gray’s character, per The Hollywood Reporter.
In a statement, Levy expressed his enthusiasm: “Starting production on Star Wars: Starfighter feels like an incredible privilege. When Kathy Kennedy invited me to craft an original story in the Star Wars universe, it was a dream come true. Star Wars has shaped my love for storytelling and its ability to create lasting characters and moments. Working with such talented collaborators is a career highlight.”
Levy is producing the film with Kennedy, with the screenplay penned by Jonathan Tropper. Executive producers include Gosling, Dan Levine, Mary McLaglen, and Josh McLaglen. Set roughly five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled to hit theaters on May 28, 2027.
