Skeetch drops debut album “Sunny Side of Shitty Town”

A group of skate punkers from Leipzig, Germany have arrived in full force. Skeetch released their debut album “Sunny Side of Shitty Town” August 22 via Punkerton Records, in association with Punk Rock Radar and Cat’s Claw Records.

With 11 tracks of blistering riffs, lightning-fast drumming, and raw-hearted lyricism, “Sunny Side of Shitty Town” is a true modern punk record. It’s smart, furious and exciting. Whether it’s the generational frustration of the track “Born 2 Late,” the biting protest anthem “Hello Mr. Officer,” or the deeply personal reflections found in “Spicy Memories,” Skeetch came in strong with their high-octane skate punk sound.

“We wanted this record to be a love letter to punk rock, but also a snapshot of where we’re at right now,” frontman Max Schlegel said. “Growing up, we idolized bands we never got to see in their prime — only on reunion tours. This album is about that feeling, about making our own moment instead of waiting for one.”

Skeetch formed in 2021, finding one another through a shared passion for punk rock soundtracks that emerged during Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater era. They’re inspired by bands such as Pennywise, Millencolin and Bad Religion. Since 2021, the group has toured extensively across Europe and released three EPs.

Recorded with engineer and mixer Tom Kühnel and mastered by Christopher H. Fogal at Black in Bluhm, “Sunny Side of Shitty Town” captures the high-speed energy of skate punk’s golden era, while bringing something fresh for 2025.

The album is available now through streaming and digital services, as well as on a limited-edition 140-gram vinyl in multiple color, exclusively through Punkerton Records.
