Channing Tatum, Oscar Isaac, and Zazie Beetz have been cast in a new crime thriller titled Kockroach.
Set in New York City, Kockroach is an upcoming film that will be showcased at the TIFF market next week. Based on William Lasher’s novel, the movie will be directed by Matt Ross, known for Captain Fantastic. According to Deadline, the film’s premise revolves around “a mysterious stranger who challenges New York’s criminal hierarchy, transforming himself into a larger-than-life crime boss in a city where power is everything.”
The screenplay for Kockroach was written by Jonathan Ames (You Were Never Really Here), with revisions by director Matt Ross. The film is being produced by Andrew Lazar through his Mad Chance production company.
Production is scheduled to begin in January 2026 in Australia. A release date has not yet been announced.
In the meantime, Tatum will soon appear as Jeffrey Manchester in Roofman, a new crime film directed by Derek Cianfrance, set to hit U.S. theaters this October. He is also returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Remy LeBeau/Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday, which is currently in production. Additionally, Tatum is attached to the thriller Josephine, co-starring Gemma Chan.
Oscar Isaac’s upcoming projects include playing Dr. Victor Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein adaptation, which will have a limited theatrical release in October before streaming on Netflix. He is also starring in In the Hand of Dante, which will have its world premiere soon at the Venice International Film Festival.
Zazie Beetz recently lent her voice to Diane Foxington/The Crimson Paw in The Bad Guys 2 (2025). She is collaborating with Gore Verbinski on a sci-fi film titled Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, which features Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, and Juno Temple.
