Exclusive Interview with Gabriella Gomez

1. You’ve been called a pioneer in redefining talk TV for the digital age. How would you describe your unique approach to livestreaming, and what makes it different from traditional talk shows?

It’s like hanging out on the couch with your best friend, talking about life – the good, the bad, the ugly. Traditional talk shows are one-sided and scripted, but on TikTok Live, it’s real-time and interactive. Viewers guide the conversation, their stories shape the show, and that’s what makes it feel human and alive.

2.  Starting with just 2,000 followers, you quickly built a massive audience on TikTok Live. What were the key strategies or experiments that helped you grow so rapidly?

Consistency was everything. People knew they could find me live every single night, without fail. That reliability built trust and kept people coming back. I also made it a point to go live with creators from every corner of TikTok, across all kinds of communities. That kind of exposure meant I was popping up on everyone’s For You Page, even if they didn’t follow me yet.

3.  Your background in videography, photography, and editing shaped your early career. How did those skills influence the way you craft your TikTok Live content today? 

I’ve always been the one filming everything – from friends, work, to random moments – so creating content just comes naturally. Editing, shooting, storytelling… it’s second nature at this point. With my brand background, I also know how to shape a moment so it feels authentic and intentional. That mix really helps my streams feel personal, but still put-together.

4.  You’ve worked with major brands and celebrities like Bella Thorne’s Thorne Dynasty. What lessons from those experiences do you bring to your own livestreams?

Every brand I’ve worked with has taught me the power of authenticity and transparency, because people want to see what’s really going on behind the scenes. Now that my brand is my life, I bring that same energy to my livestreams. Some nights it’s about telling stories people can relate to, and other nights it’s the wild behind-the-scenes stuff from my time in LA or working with celebs. Either way, it’s about making people feel like they’re in the room with me.

5.  Your livestreams are described as feeling like a chat with a trusted friend. How do you create that sense of authenticity and connection with 30,000+ viewers nightly?

There are times when the chat moves very fast the comments are a lot, but I’ve mastered speed reading, and for the most part can acknowledge every single comment that comes through in some form or fashion.  

6.  You studied social shopping trends in China before diving into TikTok Live. How have those insights shaped your approach to blending storytelling and product showcases?

Social shopping trends around the world are fascinating and the ones in China really informed my movements and patterns on TikTok live in the beginning. For instance, I knew that certain things like faster speech patterns were going to drive the algorithm to drive me more traffic. 

I also looked at the US social shopping trends, and what we know as traditional TV and I am finding a way to bridge the gap between all styles.

7. You’ve mentioned experimenting with lighting, wardrobe colors, and speech patterns. Can you share a specific experiment that had a surprising impact on your audience engagement?

Yes, the white cowboy hat. I started noticing that every time I wore it, the vibe in the comments shifted to “girl power,” “no BS,” and “she means business.” So now, anytime I throw on that hat, my audience knows exactly what time it is. It’s my unofficial signal that I’m about to stand up for something, or call out some boys who might be acting out of pocket. It’s funny how something as simple as a hat became part of the language of the stream. Now it’s a whole character moment.

8.  Your community values your openness about personal topics like dating in Los Angeles. How do you decide what to share and how to balance vulnerability with privacy?

If it feels right, I go with my gut. I don’t really have a long list of things that are off-limits. Most of the time, if I’m going through something, like dating in L.A., the chaos, the comedy, the heartbreak, I know someone watching has been there too. And I’ll get messages after like, “Thank you for saying that out loud.” That’s what it’s really about for me – helping people feel seen, heard, like they’re not the only ones going through it.

9.  Mentorship, especially for women in creator and tech spaces, is central to your philosophy. What inspired you to uplift others, and how do you select the female scientists, artists, and innovators you feature?

It all starts with good energy. If I vibe with someone, it’s easy to share the screen. Once I get to know them, I’m usually blown away by what they’re doing. I just want more people to see it. If I can help amplify their work and get them in front of new audiences, I’m all in. There’s room for all of us to win.

10.  How do you see TikTok Live evolving as a platform for interactive entertainment, and what role do you hope to play in that future?

I hope to build out more branded entertainment.

11.  What challenges have you faced as a top creator, and how do you handle the pressure of consistently engaging such a large audience?

I don’t really see it as pressure. 

12.  Your format avoids the high-energy chaos of some livestreams in favor of a more relatable vibe. How do you maintain that balance while keeping viewers hooked night after night?

I use themed series to keep things fun. Instead of chaotic banter, I’ll do playful challenges, like the loser has to bark like a dog or do something silly. It keeps the energy up in a way that’s still light and relatable. Sometimes I’ll cohost with high-energy creators to balance things out, but my space is really about connection. A lot of people come over from louder streams just to take a break, and they still want entertainment, just without the chaos. I’ve really tried hard to build a safe place for people. 

13.  Looking ahead, what’s your vision for your platform, and how do you plan to continue redefining what talk TV looks like in the digital age?

Now that I’ve hit my one-year mark as a TikTok Live pro, I’m focused on building out more structured show segments and turning the nightly stream into a well-oiled machine.
