INsiders Guide: ISSA ODYSSEA, MARIAH THE SCIENTIST, Midnight Channel, DANNY OCEAN, Star2 and Ler Mu Dex…

With her sophomore EP this wasn’t in the script, ISSA ODYSSEA cements herself as one of the most arresting new voices in the London music scene. Blending lo-fi textures, R&B subtlety, and indie-soul sensibilities, she delivers songs that feel both intimate and expansive; the kind of work that turns personal reflection into something universally resonant. Drawing from childhood memories and channeling the emotions of navigating young adulthood, she captures the ache of growing up and the chaos of your twenties. This project stands as a true testament of her ability to craft worlds. ‘this wasn’t in the script’ is available now.

On the heels of the success of her first single, the Billboard hit “Burning Blue,” Mariah The Scientist has delivered her follow-up single: “Is It A Crime” featuring Kali Uchis.

The sultry new collab arrives ahead of the release of Mariah’s fourth studio album, HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY, next month on August 22.

Midnight Channel (Lethbridge, AB) made immediate impact with their debut album, Gemini Sunrise, reaching #10 on the National Earshot! Jazz Charts, solidifying their place as a rising force in Canada’s jazz scene.

Midnight Channel blends the boundary-pushing spirit of 1960s cosmic free jazz with the vibrant energy of the modern jazz revival. Infused with elements of contemporary post-bop, Japanese fusion, and neo-soul grooves, Midnight Channel brings a sound that’s both rooted in tradition yet refreshingly modern—perfect for longtime jazz fans and first-time listeners alike. Live performances are where Midnight Channel truly shines. Known for their explosive energy, heartfelt improvisations, and the palpable camaraderie between members, they create an unforgettable experience that transforms any stage into a sacred, shared space of music and emotion.

Midnight Channel was envisioned as a dynamic, collective entity. Membership is intentionally fluid, with members flowing in and out between performances, fostering a collaborative spirit both. Therefore, each performance varies in instrumentation, creating a truly unique experience every time a piece is performed.

While songwriting is encouraged across all members, the group’s core compositions are predominantly crafted by Matthew Erdmann (bass), Brandon deGorter (sax), and Chris Bernhardt (keys). True to jazz tradition, the band’s performances strike a balance between staying grounded in melody and flying with improvisation. Every member is given the freedom to improvise, creating a space for dialogue through music—one where each voice is heard and responded to in the moment.

Venezuelan singer-songwriter and three-time Latin Grammy nominee DANNY OCEAN has released his fourth studio album “Babylon Club”, an ambitious conceptual production that transports listeners to a narrative universe where freedom, desire, escape, love, and celebration take center stage.

Featuring a total of 14 tracks, “Babylon Club” delivers a powerful blend of sounds and collaborations that reaffirm Danny Ocean’s international vision. The album is complete with high-profile features from El AlfaArcángel, Aitana, and Louis BPM, alongside previously released tracks with Kapo, Sech, and Kenia OS, further solidifying his place as one of the most innovative and versatile voices in Latin music.

Star2 and Ler Mu Dex share a powerful story rooted in resilience and hope. Both artists were born in refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border, Star2 in Mae La and Ler Mu Dex in Mae Ra Moe. In 2025, they returned to those very camps, delivering food, treats, and joy to children still living under difficult conditions. For Ler Mu Dex, it was an especially emotional homecoming – his first visit back to Mae Ra Moe in over 15 years, where his brother still resides.

Their new single“By My Side” is a heartfelt ode to loyalty and those who stand with us through everything. Sweet yet bold, it blends tenderness with the rappers’ signature style and swagger. The accompanying music video, filmed in Thailand, radiates culture and nostalgia, with a vintage warmth that mirrors quiet afternoons spent with someone special.

Through raw storytelling and high-profile collaborations with rap heavyweights like Soulja Boy, Mozzy, Luh Kel, HoodTrophy Bino, $tupid Young, and Sprite, Star2 has built a powerful voice in hip-hop, earning millions of streams and placements on editorial playlists like Apple’s Cloud Rap and Fresh Finds R&B.

Alt-pop trailblazer Charlotte Sands returns today with her explosive new single, “neckdeep,” arriving in the midst of her nationwide run on the idobi Radio Summer School Tour.

Following the success of her 2024 album can we start over?, Charlotte is stepping boldly into a new era, first teased with June’s fiery single “HUSH” and now ignited with “neckdeep.” Blending bratty hyperpop with brooding alt-rock, the song delivers a vibrant collision of anthemic pop hooks, raw angst, and metallic punk grit. “neckdeep” is a cathartic scream into the void, a full-body release and the perfect soundtrack for the next chapter of a brat rock summer.

“neckdeep” is a song about the realization you’re no longer a priority in your relationship and the desperation that comes with wanting to be seen,” Charlotte shares. “It captures the chaos that comes with being pushed past your breaking points and constantly existing on the edge of helplessness and revenge.”

Tennessee-raised band Colony House has shared the next installment of their highly anticipated fifth studio album, 77 (due out on September 5th) with new single “OK OK OK OK.” The track showcases Colony House’s signature blend of lyrical depth and sonic grit–and further highlights a band with rich history, experience, and continued vision for an elevated soundscape.

AMP (ADAM Music Project) was founded by Adam DeGraide with the idea that collaboration is one of the best ways to make music. Wanting to create a unique and prolific sound utilizing many talented artists with various voices and musical gifts. . . AMP was born.

With their long term friendship and shared love of all things rock Dameon Aranda and Adam DeGraide decided to partner up on the project by co-writing and co-producing AMP. The band is unique because it features many different singers and musicians from all walks of life. Some of the main contributors to the band are Dameon Aranda on lead vocals and guitar solos, Gabe Aranda, Lacy Saunders, Macie Cantrell, Hartleigh Buwick, Myra Beasley, Joel Driskell and Adam Aguilar all on lead vocals, Jay Gleason on lead guitar and Jeff Hall on drums.

Renowned New Zealand producer SoulChef has released compelling new single “Different,” featuring legendary American emcee Bumpy Knuckles (aka Freddie Foxxx). The track is a gritty, soul-drenched anthem that bridges continents and generations. SoulChef’s signature production—layered with warm instrumentation, crisp drums, and jazz-inflected textures—sets the stage for Bumpy Knuckles’ commanding presence and lyrical precision. The result is a track that stands apart in today’s hip-hop landscape, offering a refreshing dose of authenticity and raw energy.

This collaboration marks a significant moment for both artists: SoulChef continues to expand his global reach with genre-defying soundscapes, while Bumpy Knuckles reinforces his legacy as one of hip-hop’s most respected underground voices.

“Different” is more than just another song—it’s a statement. A reminder that true artistry still thrives in the synergy of collaboration, where craft and conviction matter most.

Stefanie Michaela’s new single “Better With Time” is an empowering anthem for anyone who’s ever felt overlooked, underestimated, or told they were too late. Written and produced by Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum musician Nash Overstreet—best known as a member of Hot Chelle Rae and for his work with artists like Britney Spears, Meghan Trainor, and Pitbull—the track blends soulful pop with a polished modern edge. Also, co-written with Cali Rodi (Keith Urban, Daya), “Better With Time” makes one thing clear: Stefanie isn’t just catching up—she’s breaking through.
