James Gunn has officially revealed the title of the upcoming Superman film, and stars from various DC Universe projects have already begun commenting, hinting at their possible involvement. Following Gunn’s announcement of the new movie, titled Man of Tomorrow, on Instagram, several DCU stars shared their excitement. Superman actors David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult posted their own celebratory images, while Isabela Merced—who portrayed Hawkgirl in Superman—also shared the announcement, adding a “see you soon” message.
Aaron Pierre, who is slated to play Green Lantern John Stewart in the upcoming HBO series Lanterns, also commented on Gunn’s post. This sparked speculation about whether Pierre might appear in the new film, which is scheduled to be released after Lanterns premieres in 2026. Grant Gustin, known for playing Barry Allen/The Flash on The CW’s The Flash, also chimed in to celebrate the news. Currently, few details are available about Man of Tomorrow, aside from its release date—July 9, 2027—and the fact that Corenswet, Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan are confirmed to return for the film.

The nickname Man of Tomorrow is one of Superman’s many monikers and has appeared in various DC comic storylines. Additionally, a 2020 animated film titled Superman: Man of Tomorrow exists, but it remains unclear whether the upcoming DCU movie will draw inspiration from this source material.
Superman is now available for rent or purchase on digital platforms such as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and others.
The official synopsis states: “Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. Directed by James Gunn, the film offers a fresh take on the iconic hero, blending epic action, humor, and heartfelt moments to deliver a Superman driven by compassion and a strong belief in the goodness of humanity.”
