INsiders Guide: Sarina, Katie Schecter, Mat.Joe, Connie Kaldor, THE AUDACITY, LINDSEY ROSE BLACK…

Sarina is a rising alt-rock sensation from Tokyo, Japan, blending the raw energy of early 2010s pop-punk with her own unapologetic, edgy rock style. A bilingual artist born in Hawaii to a Lebanese mother and Japanese father, Sarina’s international upbringing in Tokyo has deeply influenced her music, resonating with fans of The Pretty Reckless, YUNGBLUD, and Paramore.

From a young age, Sarina was absorbed in a world of music and creativity, beginning with classical piano lessons at just two years old. Her journey soon expanded to include guitar and ukulele, instruments she continues to cherish for their versatility. With a profound respect for both the dark and light aspects of life, influenced by her artistically gifted parents, Sarina’s music explores themes of mental health and personal struggle, creating a sound that is both deeply relatable and emotionally powerful.

Sarina’s debut single, “Identity,” released under the Sony RED label, showcased her multi-instrumental talents, as she played drums, guitar, bass, and piano on the track. With Sony Red, she released five more singles, an EP titled Foreword, and six music videos, which she story-boarded and headed with her original concepts and detail-oriented symbolism, before launching SyrenSong in May of 2024, a label spearheaded alongside her mother, who is one of Japan’s successful music business entrepreneurs. Filled with thought-provoking lyrics and catchy melodies, her songs have earned her coveted playlist spots on Spotify’s “New Music Friday,” Ones to Watch’s “Now Watching,” Apple Music’s “New in Rock” and “New in Alternative.”

Nashville’s Katie Schecter announces her new album Empress will be released on October 17. Recorded live to tape at New York City’s legendary Diamond Mine Studio while she was pregnant with her daughter, Schecter feels transcendent in her femininity, knowing she is safe to cherish her imperfections. Holding life within her while creating this album, she knew this body of work is also a gift that will be left behind as part of her personal archeology — Pre-save / pre-order.

Along with the announcement of her album, Schecter today releases the new single “Run River Run.” Slinky, sultry and driving with few glances to the rearview mirror, she exists in her own class of cinematic sophistication, straddling the lines of rock, soul and pop

Dirtybird is continuing its 20th anniversary celebration with Mat.Joe’s official remix of Kill Frenzy’s 2014 standout ‘All Night Long’ out now.

Released more than a decade ago as the lead single from Taylr Swift, ‘All Night Long’ became a left-field favorite and helped cement Killy Frenzy as one of Dirtybird’s early selectors. In Mat.Joe’s hands, the track gets an energetic flip, bursting with eclectic drum patterns and droning synths that mirror the original’s iconic vocal. Mat.Joe’s remix comes as both a celebration of Dirtybird’s legacy and a nod to one of its most unforgettable tracks.

Mat.Joe first joined the Dirtybird fold in 2019 with the Birdfeed-released ‘Real Headz’, returning to the main label the following year with ‘Drummer Loco’ alongside Kevin Knapp and Maximono. Now a solo venture led by Berlin-based Matthias, Mat.Joe has released on labels like Higher Ground, REALM, Moon Harbour, and This Ain’t Bristol, all while evolving a sound rooted in house, soul, and hip-hop.

Regina-born folk legend Connie Kaldor is embracing her western roots with Wide Open Spaces, a powerful and heartfelt new album that pays tribute to the vast landscapes and enduring spirit of the Canadian Prairies. The album will be released on September 5th, 2025, with the lead single “Hitched Together” out now. Listen here.

Marking her first full-length project entirely devoted to the stories, people, and places of Western Canada, Wide Open Spaces is a return to the heart of what has long defined Connie Kaldor’s songwriting – big-sky imagery, character-rich storytelling, and an unmatched ability to find humour and heart in equal measure.

“It’s basically my western prairie album,” says Kaldor. It shines a light on the part of the world that inspired many of the songs that helped shape my career. Wide Open Spaces is unabashedly Western Canadian.”

LINDSEY ROSE BLACK
“CUNT HONEY”

• Lindsey Rose Black releases “CUNT HONEY,” an indie pop anthem exploring Y2K purity culture and queer identity.

• “I wrote this song on my period and about my period! You’re welcome. But really, growing up in a small religious town, I learned that painful periods were ‘Eve’s curse’ for causing Adam to sin…There’s so much to unpack as to why this is a BANANAS thing to hear as a kiddo in a body that menstruates, and I’ve been actively deconstructing narratives my body has carried around shame, femininity, and sexuality for years. Viva la cunt, honey!” – Lindsey Rose Black

Hayes Bradley is a composer, producer, and DJ who works across dance music, ambient, and film scoring as well as curating sound for key fashion brands. He has DJed at major events, including Insomniac’s Forever Midnight NYE Festival, as well as in Tokyo, Berlin, and New York. He formerly toured with Kaytranada as part of his American Dance Ghosts group and released his debut EP, These Things Take Time, back in 2017.

He has since released three albums, including the critically acclaimed ambient debut 1-9 via Secular Sabbath Records, and two ethereal follow-ups, Anywhere For Now and Recommence (I/VII). Now he joins L.A. label Stratasonic for his latest musical adventure. This first single is a taster of an eclectic and adventurous forthcoming album, which pairs widescreen progressive, melodic broken beats with introspective songwriting and peak-time club euphoria.

Says the artist, “‘Total Call’ is personal chaos. Chaos, most people try to mask by acting normal. If you’re crying or fucked up or panicking in public, you try and cover it up. I think everyone should just lean into whatever they are feeling and care less about the people staring back. The drums and synth pulls are masked by a common guitar riff. But in the end, the guitar sound vanishes and you’re just left with who you truly are. Whatever that may be, so probably just be that.

TYGERMYLK (they/them) shares their powerful new single ‘Confetti’.

Listen HERE

Arriving as an unapologetic queer anthem, Confetti soars with euphoria as TYGERMYLK finds the inner peace of self acceptance.

“This song marks the beginning of me being completely free—gender-wise, sexually and emotionally.”

Defiant and compelling, today’s new single depicts the complexities of following someone else’s blueprint for happiness. Sharing more, they said: ‘Confetti explores the pervasive expectations that come from growing up in a small, conservatively minded town, where marriage was expected young and homophobia was ever-present. I grew up believing love looks a certain way: house, marriage, dogs, kids … and then realised you were chasing something that was never meant for you.”

Rising London artist, producer, and songwriter Kali Claire returns with her brand-new single “WEAK” – a romantic UK Garage-infused heater, dropping on 8th August, showcasing Kali’s signature sound and storytelling flair at its finest.

“WEAK” begins with sweeping, emotive strings that instantly set a reflective tone, before the unmistakable rhythm of UK Garage percussion cuts through, bringing energy and urgency. It’s a contrast that perfectly frames Kali Claire’s silky, expressive vocals, as she delivers a heartfelt reflection on missing a loved one while far from home. Laced with longing yet carried by a beat made for movement, “WEAK” is a soulful anthem for anyone who’s ever felt the tension between chasing their dreams and holding onto love. It’s Kali at her finest, vulnerable, rhythmic, and effortlessly captivating.
