Actors David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman, who starred together in The Long Walk, are set to collaborate again on a new project for A24.

Currently, The Long Walk, distributed by Lionsgate, is in theaters across the United States. Directed by Francis Lawrence, known for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, this dystopian survival thriller is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name. In the film, Jonsson portrays Peter McVries, while Hoffman—son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman—takes on the role of Raymond “Ray” Garraty. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both actors are now in negotiations to star in The Chaperones, an upcoming drama produced by A24.

The film’s plot centers around a drug dealer and his two laid-back friends who are hired to escort a troubled teenager across the country. The Chaperones is directed by India Donaldson, who makes her feature film debut with this project. Her previous work includes the 2024 film Good One, which features Lily Collias and James Le Gros and was showcased at Sundance and Cannes.

The screenplay is written by Sebastian Black, with Adam Wyatt Tate serving as an executive producer. The production is led by Plan B and Icki Eneo Arlo, with filming scheduled to begin later this fall in Ohio and New Mexico. A release date has yet to be announced.

Beyond The Long Walk, Jonsson is known for his role as Andy Carradine in Alien: Romulus (2024), as well as appearances in Rye Lane (2023) and Bonhoeffer (2024). He also stars as Augustus “Gus” Sackey in HBO’s Industry and has appeared on television in Endeavour, Deep State, and The Road Trip.

Hoffman made his acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza (2021) and has since appeared in Wildcat (2023), Old Guy (2024), and Saturday Night (2024). He is also set to appear in Maude Apatow’s Poetic License and Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex.
