Los Angeles punk provocateur Kit Major is back with a vengeance. Her new single “Teenage Wannabe” — out today via Futureless — is a snarling, cinematic ride that fuses B-horror camp with razor-edged alt-rock. The track will come alive on screen October 10th with an accompanying music video directed by longtime collaborator Noël Dombroski, dialing up the spectacle with nods to cult horror and sci-fi classics.

“‘Teenage Wannabe’ is an anthem that channels campy B-horror and sci-fi films,” Major said. “It’s both a confession and a critique — an observation of how easy it is to lose yourself when everything feels manufactured, and a reminder that identity can’t be pinned down.”

Co-written with AJ Peacox (guitar) and Rob Nagelhout (drums/bass, production, mixing), the single is equal parts nerdy and seductive — stacked with driving riffs, horror-punk swagger, and even a scream cameo from Major’s sister Emma Lev. It’s a love letter to icons like The Ramones, Misfits, and The Cramps, as well as a wink to the gothic drama of the Castlevania video game series.

The upcoming music video will capture the chaos of Kit Major’s high-voltage live shows while plunging into surreal horror imagery.

“I wanted to bring back imagination, glam, and spectacle to my universe,” Major said.

Fans can catch Kit Major bringing “Teenage Wannabe” to life on stage this fall across Los Angeles, with a December show alongside Bruvvy closing out the year.

Rising British artist Esmae released her new single Depend on You” featuring OMI, blending smooth R&B textures with a soaring pop sensibility. The track pairs Esmae’s powerful vocals with OMI’s signature flow, creating a collaboration that feels both effortless and explosive.

Built on textured drum beats, chilled synths, and clever use of repetition, “Depend on You” builds towards a euphoric crescendo in its final chorus — a moment designed to linger long after the last note.

“The song came to me while I was out on a catamaran in the Seychelles,” Esmae said. “The sun was lighting up the ocean — everything was golden. You could feel the love in the air. It was one of those rare moments where everything just felt… magical. After writing the first idea, I thought to myself, Who would be perfect for this? And it was a no-brainer — OMI.”

For OMI, best known for his global smash “Cheerleader” (Felix Jaehn Remix), the single marks another exciting chapter after his 2024 release “Poker Face,” which reached No. 21 on the Music Week Pop Chart.

For Esmae, she’s been carving her path in music since first making waves on SoundCloud in 2019, earning BBC Introducing airplay and racking up millions of streams across her music and covers. Her 2021 debut EP “Do Better” showcased her R&B-meets-pop vision, while recent singles “Undone” and “Fire” both broke into the iTunes Top 10, cementing her as one of the UK’s most promising new voices.

With DJ Larizzle (Kiss FM) set to release a remix of “Depend on You” soon, and her momentum building, 2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Esmae.

Hossegor, France-based noise-rock trio This Will Destroy Your Ears returned last week with their new single “This Is Why.” The track is the latest preview of their forthcoming third album, “FUNLAND,” set to release October 10 via À Tant Rêver Du Roi (FR), Luik Music (BE), and Conicle Records (cassette).

Recorded by Ben Hampson (DITZ, Lambrini Girls) at pARPAINg Studio, mixed in Brighton, and mastered by Katie Tavini (Weird Jungle, UK), “FUNLAND” promises to push the band’s raw and uncompromising sound into new territory.

Lyrically, “This Is Why” examines the evolution of intimacy over time.

“[It’s] about life as a couple, and how the way we look at each other changes over time,” guitarist/vocalist Pierre-Yo said. “Those little quirks or ‘charming’ flaws that seem so endearing — or that we barely notice — at the beginning of a relationship inevitably start to appear differently as the years go by. That isn’t necessarily negative: it’s also about learning to accept the other person in their entirety, with more depth and intimacy.”

For the official video, Pierre-Yo turned to nearly two decades of VHS and Super 8 footage filmed by his parents, entrusting videographer Antoine Bernays to highlight the subtle changes in their gazes toward one another.

“No resentment, no bitterness: just the passage of years quietly transforming things,” he explained.

The album’s title nods to Blackpool’s iconic arcade hall “FUNLAND” — a surreal mix of slot machines, children’s games, and faded interiors, evoking the uncanny atmosphere of a David Lynch film or Stephen King story.

TWDYE first teased their return earlier this year with the ferocious live session video “I WANT TO WRITE A GOOD SONG,” followed by lead single “Gorgeous Eve Holds A Banger Hammer,” premiered by French outlet MOWNO. The trio have already hit stages at InRocks Festival 2025 (supporting Fat White Family) and Festival Hors-Pistes alongside Shannon Wright and Quentin Sauvé, with a headline UK/EU winter tour now announced and more dates to follow.

Columbus-born DJ, producer, and musician OLAN makes her debut on Seb Wildblood’s celebrated label all my thoughts with “Backseat,” the opening track from her forthcoming EP “Nimbus Clouds.”

Following acclaimed releases with Ninja Tune and Anjunadeep, OLAN (aka Luzana Flores) continues to carve a distinctive path in electronic music, earning comparisons to pioneering voices like Jlin, Björk, Ellen Allien, Mira Calix, and Anna Meredith. With “Nimbus Clouds,” she presents her most personal and vulnerable body of work yet: a three-track exploration of grief, surrender, and reconnection.

The EP’s lead single “Backseat” meditates on the bliss found in relinquishing control. Mechanical thuds and trembling textures gradually bloom into OLAN’s airy vocals, framed by muted bass and whispering sonic details that shift delicately across the stereo field.

“It leans into the bliss of giving up control,” OLAN said. “I was just pulling from the chorus, but I think the title plays into that theme.”

Written and recorded over seven days in Las Vegas with longtime collaborators, “Nimbus Clouds” captures what OLAN describes as “a sonic exhale after a period of deep personal unrest.” Rooted in her Nevada desert beginnings, the project represents both an artistic homecoming and a return to community.

Instead of chasing instant gratification, “Nimbus Clouds” unfolds with stillness and clarity, each track offering a different lens on emotional transformation. Following “Backseat,” OLAN will release “Passing” on October 22, with the full EP arriving November 12.

Portland-based producer FENRA makes his official debut with “COFFEE,” out now via 6x Records. Premiered by Magnetic Magazine and mastered by Aneek Thapar (Rival Consoles, Max Cooper), the track offers the first glimpse of his forthcoming debut EP “Delusional,” set for release on November 28.

The electronic project of producer B Laws, FENRA draws on a lifelong immersion in music and art. Raised in Santa Rosa, California, he first discovered harmony while singing hymns alongside his grandmother, later teaching himself guitar at 14 and touring internationally in various bands. With FENRA, he channels that breadth of experience into a new chapter — one inspired by the textural explorations of Caribou, Four Tet, and Bonobo, the minimalist elegance of Philip Glass, and the soulful resonance of Gloria Ann Taylor.

“COFFEE” distills those influences into a dreamy, genre-blurring soundscape. Built on pitched-down vocals, hammered dulcimer, and woozy atmospherics, the track drifts between left-field ambient and downtempo textures, weaving organic and electronic elements into something both cinematic and deeply personal.

“‘COFFEE’ might be my favorite song on Delusional,” he said. “The hammered dulcimer / pitched vocal combo is not something I had heard before and I really like the way it turned out.”

With its hypnotic mood and tactile warmth, “COFFEE” sets the tone for FENRA’s debut EP — a work that promises to blur boundaries while carving out a sound entirely his own.

Chapel Hill’s Superintendo are back with “Evergreen,” a driving, intricately melodic punk rock anthem that doubles as a shot of tough-love motivation. Written in the face of everyday burnout, the track tackles the crushing weight of modern life — when problems pile up faster than you can face them, and the couch starts to feel like quicksand.

“Evergreen” doesn’t just wag a finger outward; it calls the band themselves out, too. Fueled by frenetic drums and layered guitar work, the song takes aim at the delusion that things will fix themselves if you just wait it out.

“It’s a rallying cry to ditch passive hope, leave the house, and do something real,” frontman Luke West said. “Urgent, melodic, and just a little self-deprecating, ‘Evergreen’ is punk with purpose — and a reason to dance while you’re waking up.”

With a sound that blends punk urgency with flashes of ska, dub, jazz, bossa nova, and even prog (reluctantly), Superintendo embraces both the fast and the slow — but mostly fast. Their genre-curious approach pairs high-energy hooks with a no-pretensions live show, the kind where everyone is invited to get moving and feel welcome.

At its core, “Evergreen” is more than just a cathartic punk anthem — it’s an invitation to shake off the paralysis, take that next step, and start moving toward something better. Catchy, urgent, and unflinchingly honest, it’s a reminder that no one’s going to help you until you help yourself.

Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist Beta Trip (aka Steve Lewin) released his debut album “Superette” via Having Fun Records. Written, performed, and produced entirely by Lewin, the record bridges Britpop textures, alt-rock drive, and introspective storytelling into a cohesive ten-track statement.

Across the album, Lewin explores growth, perspective, and the tension between vulnerability and resolve. Standout single “What I Need” crystallizes that theme with its soaring chorus — “You don’t know what I need, you don’t know what I’ve seen” — threading honesty and restraint through a cathartic, guitar-driven arrangement. Lewin cites the song as one of his most personal, balancing raw emotion with clarity of craft.

The title “Superette” nods to the corner-store spirit of something curated, essential, and full of personality. From cinematic swells to stripped-down turns, the album reflects that ethos, drawing touchpoints from Radiohead, Nada Surf, and Elbow while staying distinctly Lewin’s own.

Though a debut in name, “Superette” arrives as the work of a seasoned artist. After years of global touring and several independent EPs, Lewin returns under his new moniker with sharpened focus and a fully realized vision. Beta Trip is both a fresh chapter and a full-circle arrival — and with “Superette,” Lewin delivers a debut that resonates well beyond its runtime.

After six years away, The Melancholy Kings are back with “Bitcoin Elegy,” a jagged, guitar-driven single that sets the tone for their long-awaited sophomore album “Her Favorite Disguise” (out November 28 via Magic Door Record Label).

Despite its title, the track isn’t really about cryptocurrency — it’s about the slow erosion of real-world connection in a world consumed by screens. Frontman Mike Potenza frames it as a modern lament, weaving in references to Yeats and King Canute while guitars surge from frenetic riffs to folk-tinged restraint.

The accompanying video, filmed at Paterson, NJ’s Prototype 237, mirrors the theme with VHS-like fragments of lives frozen in time, band members appearing adrift as the world keeps crumbling forward.

Formed in Montclair by NYC transplants Potenza and bassist Scott Selig — both veterans of the ’90s and ’00s indie scene — the band wears its love-hate relationship with New Jersey and New York proudly. Musically, they carve out a space between Wilco’s folk-rock warmth and The Replacements’ ragged urgency, all while embracing the scrappy edge of ’80s alt-rock.

Produced by Ray Ketchem (Guided by Voices, Luna, Elk City) at Magic Door Recording Studio, “Bitcoin Elegy” features spectral backing vocals from Olivia Selig, while the forthcoming album includes contributions from icons like Mac Gollehon (David Bowie, Duran Duran) and Reneé LoBue (Elk City).

With “Her Favorite Disguise,” The Melancholy Kings channel resignation, nostalgia, and punk-tinged defiance into a collection that feels both lived-in and freshly urgent.
