Teaser: A24 and Charli XCX Confirm Cast for ‘The Moment’

Pop icon Charli XCX, who recently celebrated her 33rd birthday, continues to keep the summer energy alive into fall—and now into 2026. Beyond her musical achievements, Charli has also established herself as a passionate cinephile, frequently sharing her reviews of new films on Letterboxd and social media.

In exciting news, she has teamed up with A24 to produce a feature film titled The Moment, which was previously announced. On Thursday, A24 officially revealed the film’s cast and confirmed that it is slated for release sometime in 2026. Check out the video announcement below.

The Moment is inspired by Charli XCX’s own concept, with her serving as both producer and star. The film’s ensemble cast includes Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Kylie Jenner, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rachel Sennott, Rish Shah, Alexander Skarsgård, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl, and A. G. Cook. While some names had been rumored earlier, today’s confirmation marks their official involvement.

A key contributor, A. G. Cook, is also responsible for the film’s music. According to A24, The Moment follows a rising pop star as she “navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.” Cook has previously crafted music for Rachel Sennott’s film Bottoms and has produced tracks for Charli XCX, whose 2024 album Brat became a cultural phenomenon.

Charli XCX also starred in Pete Ohs’ well-received film Erupcja, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was acquired for U.S. distribution by Rising distributor 1-2 Special.

Directed by Aidan Zamiri—who has directed music videos for Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, FKA Twigs, and Timothée Chalamet’s spot for Cash App—The Moment was co-written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes.

A24, known for its secretive approach, has recently been hinting at a potential shift toward building franchise-based intellectual property. Their current season includes Oscar contenders like Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine, Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme (which premiered as a secret screening at the New York Film Festival), and Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Earlier this year, the studio also released Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest in partnership with Apple and the controversial Eddington by Ari Aster.
