What We Know About 9/11 TV Show Starring Jeremy Strong

Jeremy Strong is set to star in a new limited series on Paramount+ centered around 9/11 first responders.

Best known for his role as Kendall Roy on HBO’s Succession, which earned him an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2020 and two additional nominations, Strong has also been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in The Apprentice (2024). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Strong has been cast in 9/12, a six-episode series written, directed, and executive produced by Tobias Lindholm.

The series explores “a historic David vs. Goliath legal battle faced by first responders to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, who ultimately fought for and won compensation.” Strong will play class-action lawyer Jason Smith and will also serve as an executive producer. Production is scheduled to begin in 2026. Frank Pugliese is also involved as a writer and executive producer.

Lindholm explained, “Although rooted in the unprecedented events of September 11, 2001, 9/12 addresses struggles that extend beyond that day. It questions what happens when those who risked everything are abandoned by the institutions meant to protect them. The series honors human resilience and perseverance in the face of unimaginable adversity — the very reason I wanted to tell this story.”

Strong remarked, “Historian David Halberstam once wrote about September 11, 2001, that ‘on a day when the worst of mankind showed itself, the best of mankind answered.’ 9/12 is about the best of us — our first responders, whose initial response time on 9/11 was just five seconds. It captures a moment of unity and resilience in a divided nation, when amid the wreckage, we came together to rebuild and rise from the rubble.” The series is set to premiere on Paramount+ in 2027.
