An iconic video game from the 1990s is set to become a Netflix television series.

The original Crash Bandicoot game was released in 1996, created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin. Developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation, this game launched a franchise featuring the beloved anthropomorphic bandicoot. Over the years, Crash has embarked on numerous adventures, with the latest being the 2023 release, Crash Team Rumble.

According to What’s on Netflix, the streaming platform is now adapting Crash Bandicoot into an animated series. Details about the show are currently scarce, but it is known to be produced by WildBrain Studios, a company with a history of creating popular Netflix animations, including Sonic Prime—based on the Sonic the Hedgehog series—which concluded after three seasons in January 2024. The storyline for the Crash series remains under wraps, and no voice cast has been announced yet. It’s uncertain which supporting characters from the games will appear, although Doctor Neo Cortex, the main antagonist, is a likely presence.

Interestingly, Crash Bandicoot has previously appeared in another animated Netflix series, Skylanders Academy. Produced by TeamTO and Activision Blizzard Studios, this show also ran for three seasons, ending in 2018. In Skylanders Academy, Crash was voiced by Eric Rogers in the first season, with Rhys Darby taking over the role in Season 3.
