Krysten Ritter & Carrie-Anne Moss Set To Star In New Horror Movie ‘Claire’

Krysten Ritter, known for her role in Breaking Bad, and Carrie-Anne Moss, famous for The Matrix, have been cast in the upcoming creature horror thriller titled Claire. This project marks their first venture outside of Marvel, after previously working together on Netflix’s Jessica Jones, which aired for three seasons from 2015 to 2019.

The story centers on a struggling single mother battling addiction, who becomes the target of a malevolent creature that feeds on despair. As the creature begins to terrorize her and her two sons, her fight to stay sober becomes increasingly intense. The synopsis hints at a narrative where the boundary between inner demons and literal monsters becomes blurred, leading to a harrowing fight for survival and redemption.

In addition to Ritter and Moss, the cast includes Cameron Crovetti from The Boys and Sarah Bolger from Mayans M.C.. The film is directed by Tracy Kleeman, marking her debut as a feature director. The screenplay, written by John Carlos Higgins, is expected to incorporate elements reminiscent of horror classics such as The Babadook, The Relic, and Hereditary. Kleeman, a longtime assistant to The Conjuring creator James Wan, has been mentored by him and is stepping into her first major directing role.

Claire is produced by Matthew R. Cooper and Anna Dragoo for Objectively Good Media (OGM), alongside Sterling Beaumon and Thomas Mahoney. Executive producers include Julie Kroll, Lior Haas, Lisa Wolofsky, and Edoardo Bussi of Twenty-Nine Palms Entertainment.

Matthew R. Cooper expressed pride in the project, stating, “As a staunch advocate for addiction and recovery stories, Claire beautifully balances its creature feature and horror elements with the harsh realities of living with an active addict. I couldn’t be more proud of Tracy, Krysten, Sarah, John, and the entire team for bringing this project to life.”
