Jennifer Lawrence has announced that she and Emma Stone have finally partnered on their first project together—a Muppets movie centered around Miss Piggy.
The iconic character of Miss Piggy was created by Bonnie Erickson of the Jim Henson Company in 1974 for The Muppet Show. Since her debut, she has become a cultural icon thanks to her charm, fashion sense, and vibrant personality.
Although Lawrence and Stone have not shared the screen in a project before, they have developed a close friendship, largely through their mutual connection with Woody Harrelson. Both actresses have worked with Harrelson on different films—Lawrence in The Hunger Games series and Stone in the Zombieland movies. Interestingly, they also share several similarities, including winning Academy Awards for Best Actress in their twenties.
During a recent appearance on Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, Lawrence revealed that she and Stone are producing a Miss Piggy film, with Tony-winning actor Cole Escola penning the screenplay. “I don’t know if I can announce this, but I’m just going to,” she said. “Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie, and Cole is writing it.”
When asked whether they would also star in the film, Lawrence responded, “I think so… We have to.” She also addressed earlier rumors about her involvement in a potential remake of the comedy Death Becomes Her, originally starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Lawrence clarified that the project is just a fan idea at this point but expressed her enthusiasm: “No, that was just like fan casting. It would be great. I would love to. I mean, I would be there.”
