Intrinsic Value Films is currently developing a movie adaptation of Mister Yummy, a short horror story from Stephen King’s 2015 collection, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. This effort follows the success of two recent King-based films: Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey and Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk, both of which received critical acclaim. According to Deadline, the screenplay for Mister Yummy is being written by Troy Blake, with Thomas Mahoney serving as a producer. The film is described as a “haunting tale” centered on Ollie Franklin, a gay man facing mortality, where death lurks at every turn, and regret becomes an unshakable ghost. Currently, the project does not have a director, cast, or distributor attached.
This film is part of Intrinsic Value Films’ lineup at the upcoming American Film Market. The studio is also working on a biopic about Gene Wilder, titled Gene, with writer Jeremy Roth, after securing the exclusive life rights to the beloved actor’s story.
In addition to Mister Yummy, Warner Bros. Pictures is developing a film adaptation of King’s crime novel Billy Summers, which was announced in 2023. Meanwhile, King’s iconic horror novel Carrie is being adapted into a television series for Prime Video, produced by The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan. The supernatural series will feature Summer H. Howell, Siena Agudong, Matthew Lillard, and Samantha Sloyan in its cast.
