Daisy Ridley, known for her role in Star Wars, is now set to work with another acclaimed action director, Pierre Morel. Morel, famed for directing Taken and Peppermint, has signed Ridley to star in his upcoming action thriller, The Good Samaritan. Filming is scheduled to commence in spring 2026 in Brisbane, Australia.
The film’s official synopsis describes the story: “When successful entrepreneur Dr. Rosalind Carver (Ridley) and her husband Matt rescue a wounded man adrift off the coast of Indonesia, they believe they’re saving a life—not stepping into a deadly conspiracy. Soon after, their yacht disappears, Matt is kidnapped, and their paradise becomes a trap. Hunted by pirates and detained by corrupt officials, Rosalind’s only hope is Sean Fuller, a private military contractor whose motives and past remain shrouded in mystery. Together, they must navigate a web of deception and violence in a land where trust is scarce.”
The screenplay for The Good Samaritan is penned by Matthew Ian Cirulnick, known for Rambo: First Blood. The project is produced by Mark and Dorothy Canton of Canton Entertainment, along with Oakhurst Pictures, Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment, and David Hopwood. Executive producers include Pierre Morel, Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, Delphine Perrier, and Arianne Fraser from Highland Film Group. Karley Ferlic of Canton Entertainment also serves as a co-producer.
Expressing his enthusiasm, director Pierre Morel stated, “What I love about Matt’s writing is the raw realism of the characters and their intense situations, heightened by a Hitchcockian, noirish clash of two damaged souls from opposite worlds. Daisy radiates intelligence and composure under pressure; seeing her navigate a foreign land where everything—people, nature, and even fate—seems against her will be captivating. I’m excited about the cast coming together, and it promises to be a lot of fun.”
