First Look At Kate Mara In ‘The Dutchman’ Movie

Rogue Pictures and Inaugural Entertainment have announced the release date for The Dutchman, the upcoming film adaptation of the acclaimed stage play of the same name. This psychological thriller will star Kate Mara as Lula, Zazie Beetz as Kaya, and André Holland as Clay.

The story follows Clay, a successful yet troubled Black businessman who attends therapy sessions with his wife, Kaya, in an effort to save their marriage. However, their mysterious therapist isn’t what he appears to be and begins to appear to Clay outside of their sessions. During a subway ride in New York, Clay encounters Lula, a seductive yet sinister white stranger who gradually begins to unravel his life. To survive the night, Clay must uncover the truth behind this encounter, heal his fractured soul, and find his way back to his wife.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Dutchman is now set to hit theaters nationwide on January 6, 2026. Prior to its release, the film had its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival. It currently holds a 67% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 15 reviews.

Directed and produced by Andre Gaines (The One and Only Dick Gregory), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Qasim Basir, The Dutchman offers a contemporary take on the original play, delving into themes of race and identity in America. The cast also features Stephen McKinley Henderson, Aldis Hodge, Lauren E. Banks, Lenny Platt, Tracy Wilder, Shonica Gooden, and others. The film is executive-produced by Joshua Blum and Han West, with Jonathan T. Baker serving as producer.
