The year 2025 has been marked by a wave of reunions of beloved bands and groups, but it’s also been a year of exciting new acts emerging. Among them is JYT, short for Just Your Type, a fresh boy band that has just debuted with their first single, What U Want. Comprising five members aged 15 to 17, JYT is the latest group signed by Republic Records, with songwriting and production by Freddy Wexler.
Wexler, known for his work with artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, as well as groups such as BlackPink and The Jonas Brothers, has helped craft a debut that’s both catchy and energetic.
The members of JYT—Caden, Tyler, Bryan Recker, and Toby—bring more than just vocals to the table. They showcase their dancing skills in the music video for What U Want, channeling early 2000s pop choreography. The song itself is a lively, just-over-two-minute track where the boys sing about the frustrations of love with someone who’s sending mixed signals.
