Warner Bros. Pictures has finally shared a long-awaited update on J.J. Abrams’ mysterious new film, more than a year after the project was first revealed. A recent listing from the Writers Guild of America has confirmed the official title as The Great Beyond, with the project described as a dramatic action-adventure.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast led by Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell, alongside Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Barbie) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction). While specific character details remain tightly guarded, earlier reports hint that the story centers on a young married couple fighting for survival against a supernatural force.
Abrams is set to both write and direct the film, while also producing through his Bad Robot banner. The Great Beyond will mark his return to the director’s chair for the first time in over six years, following 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
