Trailer: MADMAN ENTERTAINMENT DROPS ‘THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD STARRING HUGH JACKMAN

Madman Entertainment has unveiled the first trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, a bold and brooding reimagining of the legendary outlaw that signals a far darker turn for the classic tale. Led by Hugh Jackman alongside Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, and Murray Bartlett, the film strips the myth of its swashbuckling bravado in favor of something far more intimate, brutal, and reflective.

Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski—whose haunting debut Pig and forthcoming A Quiet Place: Day One cemented his reputation for emotionally grounded storytelling—The Death of Robin Hood reconsiders the man behind the myth. This is not the heroic folk legend of green tights and noble theft, but a weary figure confronting the cost of a life defined by violence, rebellion, and bloodshed.

Set at the end of Robin Hood’s journey, the story follows an older, battle-scarred outlaw grappling with the weight of his past crimes. Gravely injured after what he believes may be his final fight, Robin is placed in the care of a mysterious woman, portrayed by Comer, who offers him something he has long been denied: the possibility of redemption. As death looms, the film explores guilt, reckoning, and whether salvation is possible for a man who has lived by the sword.

Early glimpses from the trailer suggest a stark, atmospheric tone, with Sarnoski leaning into raw performances and a somber medieval world that feels closer to historical tragedy than heroic fantasy. Jackman appears poised to deliver one of his most restrained and introspective performances in years, supported by a cast known for embracing complex, morally ambiguous roles.

The Death of Robin Hood promises a haunting meditation on legacy and mortality, reexamining one of folklore’s most enduring figures through a modern, psychological lens. The film is slated for release in cinemas in 2026.
