Exciting news for comedy fans! Anna Faris stars in the upcoming comedy movie “Spa Weekend,” written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the talented duo behind the hit “The Hangover” trilogy. The film is set to hit theaters on September 4, 2026, and features an all-star cast including Isla Fisher, Leslie Mann, and Michelle Buteau.

“Spa Weekend” follows three best friends—Jane, Coco, and Sophie—who decide to indulge in a luxurious spa retreat in Palm Springs. Their relaxing getaway takes a wild turn when their chaotic friend Mel shows up, leading to hilarious and unpredictable situations. The movie promises to deliver the comedy and chaos fans loved in “The Hangover.”

Production Details and Studio Information

The film was officially announced in August 2024, with production beginning in February 2025 in Queensland, Australia. Black Bear Pictures produced the movie, with Suzanne Todd’s Team Todd also involved. This marks the third Queensland project for Brouhaha Entertainment, following the 2024 Netflix miniseries “Boy Swallows Universe” and the 2025 horror film “Dangerous Animals.”

Writers and Director Background

Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, known for writing and directing the popular “The Hangover” trilogy, also penned screenplays for movies like “Chicken Little,” “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past,” “Flypaper,” and “The Change-Up.” Their directorial debut was “21 & Over” in 2013, which, despite mixed reviews, performed well at the box office. They also directed “Bad Moms” and “A Bad Moms Christmas,” both of which achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $183.9 million and $130 million worldwide, respectively.

Anna Faris’s Upcoming Projects

In addition to her role in “Spa Weekend,” Anna Faris is set to reprise her iconic role as Cindy Campbell in “Scary Movie 6”, scheduled for release in 2026.
