Brendan Fraser & Andrew Scott Star In World War II Movie ‘Pressure’

Feature Films, Working Title, and Studiocanal have announced the release date for Pressure, an upcoming World War II film depicting the tense events leading up to D-Day. Based on David Haig’s acclaimed 2014 stage play of the same name, the movie will feature Brendan Fraser, an Academy Award winner, as General Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Andrew Scott, an Emmy nominee, as Captain James Stagg.

The official synopsis describes the film as follows: “In the tense 72 hours before D-Day, and with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, Pressure follows General Eisenhower and Captain Stagg as they face an impossible choice—launch the largest and most dangerous invasion in history or risk losing the war altogether.” The film is set for release in theaters on May 29, 2026, just ahead of the annual D-Day remembrance on June 6. D-Day marked a crucial turning point in World War II, when Allied forces launched their invasion of Normandy, France.

Directed by Anthony Maras, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Haig, the film boasts a star-studded cast. Alongside Fraser and Scott, the cast includes Kerry Condon (known for The Banshees of Inisherin) as Kay Summersby, Chris Messina (The Mindy Project) as Irving P. Krick, Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers) as Bernard Montgomery, Con O’Neill (Chernobyl) as Trafford Leigh-Mallory, Daniel Quinn-Toye (Voltron) as Michael Gregory, and others. The film is produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Lucas Webb for Working Title, with Cass Marks and Studiocanal’s Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern, and Joe Naftalin serving as executive producers.

Brendan Fraser recently starred in the Japan-set comedy-drama Rental Family, which received an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He is also set to appear in the crime drama Diamond, directed by Andy Garcia. Fraser is expected to reprise his iconic role as Rick O’Connell in a new The Mummy film currently in development. Andrew Scott recently appeared in Netflix’s latest Benoit Blanc mystery, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives
