Trailer: The Award-winning Movie About John Davidson, ‘I Swear’

Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled a new trailer for I Swear, an acclaimed film that tells the story of John Davidson, a man navigating life with Tourette’s syndrome. The movie is scheduled for release in the United States on April 24, and in Australia on March 26, 2026.
Kirk Jones’s heartfelt, humorous, and compelling screenplay traces John Davidson’s journey from his diagnosis at age 15. Set in 1980s Britain, the film follows his struggles through adolescence and early adulthood, shedding light on the challenges of living with a condition that is often misunderstood and stigmatized. The official synopsis describes the film as a poignant exploration of John’s life, his battles with prejudice related to his tics and potential outbursts, and his efforts to live a “normal” life against all odds.

I Swear centers on John Davidson’s experiences, highlighting both his childhood hardships and the societal prejudices he encounters. The film is written and directed by Kirk Jones. In addition to Aramayo’s acclaimed portrayal—which earned him the BAFTA for Best Actor in a Leading Role—the film features performances by Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, Peter Mullan, and Scott Ellis Watson. The movie received five nominations overall and secured the BAFTA for Best Casting.
