North London native Natalie Shay crafts indie-pop for those who feel everything deeply. A multi-award-winning graduate of BRIT School and a talented lyrical storyteller, she’s been strumming guitar and writing songs since childhood. Her music paints vivid soundtracks of love, self-discovery, and the realities of navigating your twenties, blending raw honesty with uplifting, infectious energy.
Her upcoming EP, ATMOSPHERE, dives into the emotional tug-of-war of love, self-awareness, and the chaotic space in between. Natalie describes it as a sonic diary capturing the intense obsession of new love—often tangled in the aftermath of trauma bonds. The title track, “atmosphere,” co-written with longtime collaborator and close friend Kaity Rae (Remember Monday, The Shires), explores whether the connection keeping you hooked is genuine love or just something lingering in the air. Each song on the EP marks a different chapter, reflecting the experiences and lessons that have shaped her since her last release.
Natalie shares, “I like to bookend eras of my life with bodies of work, so it was important to me that ATMOSPHERE reflects everything I’ve gone through since my previous EP.” She adds, “My music is the soundtrack to my life as a mid-twenties creative who feels everything intensely. I crave love, but I’ve also been hurt by it.” Created over two years through a mix of collaborative sessions and late-night solo writing, the EP features songs she couldn’t leave behind. “Every song is like a confession,” she explains. “I write songs to perform live. It’s my therapy.”
One standout track, “sorry for u,” captures the frustration of betrayal by someone who once had her trust and love. Crafted with producers RNDMBEATS (Wes Nelson) and Call Me Loop (Pussycat Dolls), it’s a fierce indie-pop anthem. Natalie comments, “I hate it when someone close to you changes and sabotages, then either ghost or deny everything to cope with losing you. That’s what this song is about.”
With over 20 million streams and collaborations with dance producers like Grum, Giuseppe Ottaviani, and Kryder, Natalie has garnered support from BBC Radio 1 Future Pop, BBC Radio 6 Music, and BBC Introducing, along with features in Rolling Stone, Billboard, CLASH, NOTION, Wonderland, and The Line of Best Fit.
She’s sold out shows at Omeara, supported Shania Twain at BST Hyde Park, toured with Gavin DeGraw, and performed at festivals including SXSW, Latitude, Reading, and Isle of Wight. Frequently live on CBBC and featured on Love Island UK, her music continues to resonate with a wide audience.
