Netflix has unveiled the first behind-the-scenes photo of its upcoming family drama series, Kennedy, confirming that production is officially underway. The image provides a first look at Michael Fassbender, an Academy Award nominee, in the role of Joe Kennedy Sr. Additionally, the streaming platform announced several new recurring cast members set to join the highly anticipated series.
According to the official logline, “Kennedy explores the intimate lives, loves, rivalries, and tragedies that shaped the most iconic dynasty in modern history, which helped forge the world we live in today.” The first season, set in the 1930s, chronicles the remarkable rise of Joe and Rose Kennedy and their nine children, including the rebellious second son, Jack, who grapples with living in the shadow of his celebrated older brother.
The series has assembled a talented ensemble cast, including Wyatt Russell (Thunderbolts), Georgina Bitmead (The Assassin), Miley Locke (Amandaland and There She Goes), Tipper Seifert-Cleveland (Cruella), Hera Hilmar (Reykjavik Fusion), Patrick Fischler (Barry), Caitlin FitzGerald (Succession), Louis Landau (Rivals), Robin Soans (Victoria & Abdul), Denis O’Hare (The Boroughs), Albert Welling (Succession), Toby Huss (Weapons), and Eddie Marsan (No Ordinary Heist), all set to recur in the show.

Georgina Bitmead as Eunice Kennedy, the fifth child of Joe Kennedy Sr. and Rose Kennedy.
Miley Locke as young Kick Kennedy, the fourth child of Joe and Rose.
Tipper Seifert-Cleveland as young Rosemary Kennedy, the third child.
Hera Hilmar as Inga Arvad, a Danish journalist and former film star who was close to Jack Kennedy in the early 1940s.
Wyatt Russell as Charles Lindbergh, the renowned American aviator famous for his 1927 solo transatlantic flight.
Patrick Fischler as Arthur Krock, a prominent journalist who was Washington Bureau Chief for The New York Times from 1932 to 1953.
Caitlin FitzGerald as Clare Boothe Luce, a notable writer, socialite, and U.S. Congresswoman in the 1940s.
Louis Landau as Billy Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington and British aristocrat.
Robin Soans as Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister from 1937 to 1940.
Denis O’Hare as Raymond Furness, a U.S. State Department official stationed in London during the late 1930s.
Albert Welling as Winston Churchill, the iconic British Prime Minister during WWII and later.
Toby Huss as Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd U.S. President.
Eddie Marsan as J. Edgar Hoover, the first director of the FBI.
These new additions join previously announced cast members including Fassbender as Joe Kennedy Sr., Laura Donnelly as Rose Kennedy, Nick Robinson as Joe Kennedy Jr., Joshuah Melnick as Jack Kennedy, Ben Miles as Eddie Moore, Lydia Peckham as Rosemary Kennedy, Saura Lightfoot-Leon as Kick Kennedy, Cole Doman as Lem Billings, and Imogen Poots as Gloria Swanson.
The series is created and executive-produced by Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex), with Danish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round) directing the first and final episodes. When first announced in 2023, Kennedy was described as an American adaptation of The Crown. The project is executive-produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Kaitlin Dahill for Chernin Entertainment, along with Eric Roth, Logevall, Lila Byock, Anya Epstein, Dustin Thomason, Vinterberg, and Anna O’Malley.
