INsiders Guide: Lucy Frost, MONSTER PARTY, The Academy Is, Nicole Alexis, Crimes of Passion…

Alternative-pop artist and songwriter Lucy Frost has returned with her latest release, “Lines.” Capturing the feelings of angst at seeing your ex with someone new and the impetuous need to warn them, “Lines” is available now on all streaming platforms.

Lucy Frost leans into rock sensibilities, delivering a heavy-hitting confession of anxiety and mania that grabs listeners from the start, pulling them into total emotional immersion. “Lines” is a deeply anxious track, full of self-conscious and compulsive lyrics like, “Get a grip, you’re fine, they don’t hear you crying through the walls.” Filled to the brim with paranoia and reckless emotions, “Lines” follows the journey of someone who has come face-to-face with an ex’s new lover. Between unease over still having feelings, “Cause you keep creeping up my spine, and I can’t move on,” to holding back personal impulses to walk over to the next person and tell them everything about your ex, “Lines” is a musical retelling of something we all go through. “‘Lines’ sonically captures the chaotic spiral of someone who just witnessed their ex with someone new for the first time,” explains Frost. “That gnawing need to tell the next person about them, the intrusive thoughts that control us in the moment, the impulsive actions we take that we immediately regret the next day. It’s paranoia while also being neurotic, until we’re forced to face the question: who have I become?” The track was produced alongside Charlotte Reed and Mosaic, with drums provided by Graham Moala.

MONSTER PARTY is an interactive play that puts guests in the center of a supernatural, sociopolitical melodrama. Set within the context of a bizarre, surreal cocktail party, the show sees attendees let loose inside the home of an enigmatic socialite known as The Baroness. Throughout the 2.5 hour experience, guests will have an opportunity to engage with a host of colorful characters, piecing together a lurid and gruesome narrative.

Interactivity, participation in party games, and, most importantly, gossip can all be utilized as storytelling mechanics; guests are encouraged to not only engage with the performers, but with each other to help piece the story together. While participation is encouraged, MONSTER PARTY is designed for newcomers and seasoned immersive theatre attendees alike, allowing everyone to engage with the narrative at their own pace. Guests can dive in and engage with the material directly, or simply enjoy a libation while watching a zany, absurdist narrative unfolds around them. Thematically, MONSTER PARTY is a fable about how the systems we exist in – Western Christianity, capitalism, patriarchy, warmongering, and various moral panics – turn us into monsters, terrorizing one another while those in power benefit.

The show is set in Washington D.C., against the backdrop of McCarthyism of the early 1950s – specifically the moral panic that would later be known as the ‘Lavender Scare,’ when queer government employees were outed and fired due to being perceived as ‘national security risks’ (read: due to institutional homophobia). The show is designed to both entertain and provoke, challenging audiences to confront their own monstrous tendencies.

Writer, director and producer, Matt Dorado: “MONSTER PARTY is very near and dear to my heart. I’ve been working on this fully realized version since the day after we wrapped the proof-of-concept back in October 2024. It’s been incredibly rewarding to develop, fundraise for, and ultimately get to produce a show that is so authentic to my deranged inner-creative. Unfortunately, the show’s themes have become strikingly more relevant since then, as we’re mired in a new era of violent political upheaval, unfounded moral panic, and deep division. So although it’s rooted in schlocky melodrama, I’m hopeful that MONSTER PARTY will challenge audiences – perhaps in new and unexpected ways – while also allowing them an evening of gonzo entertainment. I’m genuinely thrilled to unleash this lurid, campy immersive piece into the world!”

MONSTER PARTY runs April 16-25 at Rita House and tickets are available at monsterpartyshow.com. Tickets are $150.00 (with special group pricing available, $145 per person for groups of four to seven, and $140 per person for groups of eight or more). Tickets include the 2.5 hour show, and libations served throughout the evening. Only 50 tickets are available per showing. The show is strictly 21+.

MONSTER PARTY cast:

Dasha Kittredge as The Baroness
Sidney Franklin as Charlie
Benjamin Berg as Bernard
Bukola Ogunmola as Patricia
Emily Yetter as Loretta
Misha Reeves as Helena, The Butler
Darren Herczeg as Stanley, The Maid

Influential and beloved Chicago alt-rock band The Academy Is… have shared “L Train,” the final single from their long-awaited new album, Almost There, arriving on March 27, 2026, via I Surrender Records. Rhythmic and driving, “L Train” captures the intrigue of a big night out in Chicago. The band reminisce on late nights and the emotional chaos that can ensue. Airy riffs bounce through William Beckett’s vocals as the evening carries on, bubbly synths punctuating every moment.

“‘L Train’ is a song about those nights where you’re stuck in your own head; alone in a crowded room, surrounded by social ghosts,” the band explains. “The song is dreamy, but there’s a haunting, nervous energy running through it. It’s our lens into a midwest mind trip where you’re replaying memories over and over…”

Alt-acoustic artist Nicole Alexis (stylized as N/A) is excited to announce her forthcoming EP Mirrors and Smoke, due out April 17thMirrors and Smoke features recent single “Don’t Tell Me To Breathe” – which was recently featured in the launch of Fender’s Quantum LT –  as well as 4 brand new tracks, all written and conceived by the multi-instrumentalist songwriter, who oversaw every element of the production. N/A shares:

This EP captures the emotional push and pull of loving someone you know you probably shouldn’t. Each song represents a different moment in that cycle — from holding onto hope, to confronting the damage, to finally realizing you deserve more. It’s a reflection on how easy it is to lose yourself trying to fix something that was never yours to fix.

Stay tuned for new single, “Just A Friend”, which N/A teased last year while performing at Vans Warped Tour on The Unplugged Stage in Orlando. The song set is to be released on March 20th and is available for pre-save now here. To pre-save Mirrors and Smoke, please visit: https://ffm.to/e1oyagd

N/A has quietly taken the internet by storm over the last few years, building a following of hundreds of thousands across social media with her stripped back and looped covers of fan favorites from New Found GloryKelly ClarksonSmashing PumpkinsMy Chemical RomanceA Day To RememberDashboard Confessionalblink-182, and more. Now her songwriting skills and instrumental prowess are on full display as N/A prepares to release her first full EP of original music.

LA-based producer Robert Ruby strikes again with an impressive post-disco influenced synth-tronica track, “Control.” The precipice of the new track focuses on allowing people to live freely, without the inherent urge to control their decisions. Filled with synth-vox, conga and hand percussion, and wah guitars, the new track is a funky groove for fans of LCD SoundsystemHot Chip, or Caribou.

Fresh off a sold-out EU/UK headline tour, RIAA Gold-selling Chicago rap virtuoso and Pivot Gang leader Saba returns today with “Paygrade Demo,” a previously unreleased track with GRAMMY® Award-winning super-producer and “Godfather of Chicago Hip-Hop” No ID – LISTEN HERE. The release comes in celebration of the upcoming one year anniversary of their critically acclaimed joint album From the Private Collection of Saba and No ID

Also premiering today is a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of “Paygrade Demo,” presented with Universal Audio – WATCH HERE. Filmed inside Raphael Saadiq’s Los Angeles recording studio, the video captures Saba and No ID as they transform the unscripted session into a finished record, guided by multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer Jimmy Douglass.

Fresh off the release of her new album Satellite, Charlotte Sands unveils the official music video for “None of My Business,” spotlighting one of the album’s standout moments.

Driven by heavy guitar riffs, brooding synths, and an electrifying, sing-along chorus, “None of My Business” captures the defiant energy that runs through Satellite. The accompanying video, directed by Juan Flores and Ethan Jones, channels that same intensity. Charlotte co-edited the visual with Flores and styled the entire shoot herself, assembling and tailoring every look from thrifted pieces to bring the concept to life.

“I knew the video had to match the song’s energy while still being something we could realistically pull off on an indie budget,” Charlotte shares. “I immediately started building a mood board of editorial office photoshoots with a Y2K, slightly Severance-inspired color palette, and found an old record studio office outside of LA that matched the aesthetic perfectly. I loved the idea of tying the visuals back to the album cover and letting the video be driven by the performance and chaos of the song.”

Gondos return today with the ripping new single “Stop Calling Me”. The two-minute-forty-second blast of fuzz-laced garage rock lampoons singer/guitarist Aidan Case’s short-lived dalliance with an office job life as a telemarketer. With vocals dispatching themes of anger, sarcasm, and exasperation, “Stop Calling Me” delivers a gritty reflection on what it means to be an intruder, and be intruded upon, amongst the daily hassles of modern life.

Also released today is a video that captures the Portland, Oregon, four-piece in a warehouse space in their hometown’s Chinatown district. Replete with harsh fluorescent lighting and stripped-back fixtures, this visual reflects the irrepressible direct energy of a Gondos record.

New Orleans, LA rock band Pope continues to preview their first album in over eight years, BFM, available on April 30, 2026, via Houston’s tastemaking Rite Field Records. Premiering today via Flood Magazine, “Make You Feel” is driven by hard-hitting drums and ringing guitars that emit frustration and grief. Vocal harmonies fill the spaces in between with chords that are wise, glimmering, and whole. A profound track, different sonic elements layer and coalesce to soundtrack the emotional complexity that comes with navigating loss. The song abruptly ends with audio from “from a legendary show hosted by our lost friend,” according to bandleader Matt Seferian. The sample plays like an allegory for both the shock that grief can bring and the legacy that a person can leave.

“‘Make You Feel’ is really two feelings in one song,” Seferian explains. “Written when I was in the shock of the sudden loss of a long-time friend. It was so fast and so confusing that I was having a hard time processing it through my normal channels or past experiences with grief. It’s also about community to me; how people can be so entrenched in your present and past lives.”

Solrise Records / Virgin Music Group’s Australian-born, Nashville-based country mainstay Morgan Evans will release his anticipated sophomore album Steel Town next Friday, March 20.

Named for his coastal hometown, Steel Town is the result of a period of reflection spent back home in Australia after a period of extreme public scrutiny and change. Evans found his way through by tapping into a deep vein of creativity and reigniting his passion for songcraft. Ultimately, that centering period in Australia brought Morgan back to Nashville with a renewed passion for creating music that resonates on a global scale.

“I had to get out of town,” Evans shares. “I needed something real. Old mates, familiar places, and salt water. I reconnected with where I came from, who I was, who I want to be.”

“Growing up round Newy, as a kid, and a musician, it was a beautiful place, but also a tough place, that built a character and resilience that I’ve taken with me around the world,” he continues. “Now, having been in Nashville for 10 years, I have an even greater love and respect for the place that raised me and welcomed me home when I needed it the most. On this album, I’ve finally found that balance of pride and earnest that I can share and sing with complete authenticity.”

From revolutionary vocalist to innovative artist and DJ, Kaleena Zanders joins forces with singer-songwriter Hayley May on their new single “Who We Are,” set for release on March 13 via Helix Records. The track serves as Kaleena’s second single from her forthcoming debut album, Anything Goes.

“First time I met Hayley May in London, we instantly got along. After our first session, we ended up going to dinner and talking for hours. Since then, we’ve always had the best time, whether we’re razzing each other about relationships or having deep conversations about life and this wild industry we’re in. We’ve written multiple songs together, but this one felt different. It felt like the one we were meant to release as a collab. She originally sang the demo, and I planned to re-record it later but her voice sounded so incredible and blended with mine in such a special way that I thought, why change it? It’s honestly so rare and beautiful to find another powerful vocalist in dance music and create something that feels this natural together.”

Hailing from the ancient market town of Bedford, England, and raised on the American roots music spinning from her Anglo-Indian grandmother’s record collection, soulful Americana singer-songwriter Danni Nicholls has spent the last decade carving out a respected place on the global roots scene. Now proudly based in Nashville, TN, her long-dreamed-of spiritual home, she continues to grow her stateside presence, tour widely, and prepare for the release of her forthcoming fourth full-length studio album, Making Moves.

Danni’s musical journey was sparked by a chance encounter with Nashville producer and bassist Chris Donohue (Emmylou Harris), which led to the making of her critically acclaimed albums A Little Redemption (2012) and Mockingbird Lane (2015). Both featured legendary Nashville players, including Al Perkins, Will Kimbrough, and Steve Fishell, and received rave reviews for their authenticity and emotional depth. Her third studio album, The Melted Morning (2019), produced by Jordan Brooke Hamlin (Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls), revealed a more intimate and haunting sonic landscape and was widely praised for its vulnerability and originality. Since then, Danni has continued to evolve with a live album, a covers collection, and a string of well-received singles.

Her upcoming album, Making Moves, produced by Sarah Peacock, marks a bold new chapter – blending rootsy warmth with subtle modern textures and reflecting a period of resilience, reinvention, and forward motion. The record finds Danni stepping more fully into her own power, embracing change, and writing with renewed clarity about growth, courage, and letting go.

Described as a “one in a million” artist with a “velvet voice” (Maverick Magazine), and with songs hailed as “classy and compelling” (R2 Magazine), Danni brings warmth, soul, and nuance to every stage she steps onto. Whether in intimate listening rooms, grand theatres, or festival main stages, her performances are known for melting hearts and holding audiences spellbound. She has shared bills and tours with artists such as Lucinda Williams, The Secret Sisters, and Sturgill Simpson, and her music has been featured on hit television shows, including Sons of Anarchy.

A three-time Americana Music Association UK award nominee, Danni has performed at esteemed festivals worldwide, including Cambridge Folk Festival (UK), Tønder Festival (Denmark), AMERICANAFEST (USA), Mile of Music (USA), and 30A Songwriters Festival (USA). Writing songs of hope, healing, and human connection, she has drawn comparisons to Brandi Carlile, Rosanne Cash, and KT Tunstall.

With Making Moves about to drop Summer 2026 and momentum building on both sides of the Atlantic, Danni Nicholls is an artist whose passion, presence, and powerful voice continue to resonate deeply and leave a lasting impression.

Formed in a shared East LA lockout, Clarion makes a sort of fired-up shoegaze driven by  the shared intuition of members Saya Oliva (bass/vocals, she/her), Anthony Sanchez (guitar/he/him), and touring drummer Javier Flores. If they’re not playing a DIY gig at a Denny’s, then they’re back in the room where it all started — jamming, debating, refining, and crafting a sound big enough to swallow the space around them.

Clarion is discovering their voice in real time, and the most recent outcome of their efforts isBlue Fairy, their new EP out March 27.
Saya and Anthony take influence from the in-your-face ethos and approach of bands like Fennel, Sonic Youth, HUM, Julie, Black Flag, and even Paramore. The result is anything but polished––Blue Fairy is a harsh and abrasive mix of shoegaze, post-punk, and noise-forward rock that sets Clarion apart.

Erinn Alissa releases her new single, “Jacaranda Trees,” a haunting, nostalgic folk-pop ballad. Through a tender reflection of a place she once loved, this deeply personal track captures the heartbreak and memories felt after the loss of a home, reminding listeners that memories linger on long after the dust has settled. “Jacaranda Trees” is now available on all streaming platforms worldwide.

“Jacaranda Trees” is a guitar-driven ballad, met with passionate storytelling through intimate lyricism reflecting on the loss and grief of a home that once stood, but has since fallen to ashes. Though the emotional core of this track is based on her own personal experience following the Palisades Fire in January 2025, this song speaks a universal language of pain and nostalgia. At the center of the track is Erinn Alissa’s commanding vocal performance, measured yet deeply affecting, carrying the emotional weight of the story with striking clarity. Her delivery moves with restraint and control, allowing the vulnerability in each line to land with precision rather than excess. Much like the tree that bloomed every spring and sat outside her window, “Jacaranda Trees” implies that memory will live on in the spaces that we carry and quietly grow within us. “‘Jacaranda Trees’ is about loving a place that no longer exists, and the ghost of who we are when it’s gone. It’s for anyone who’s lost something that once felt like home and still carries it with them,” says Erinn Alissa. “Jacaranda Trees” was self-produced alongside GRAMMY-winner Janet Robin (Lindsey Buckingham, Air Supply, John Carter Cash), who also provided acoustic and electric guitars, with Chris Love on bass. The track was mixed by Erinn Alissa and Matt Hyde (No Doubt, Deftones), who also mastered the track.

Multifaceted creative Lexi Carr is back with her rawest, most honest track yet. Her new self-produced single, ‘Ready to Own My Shit’, is a layered, genre-blurring journey, part diary entry, part sonic experiment, where nothing stays in one box.

‘Ready to Own My Shit’ is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

Canadian indie alt-pop artist Maddy Little returns with “Quicksand,” a quietly devastating reflection on self-doubt, overthinking, and the slow realization that someone you love is already halfway gone. Rather than capturing the explosion of a breakup, the song sits inside the moment before it happens when distance grows, communication fades, and blame turns inward.

Written during a period of emotional uncertainty, “Quicksand” explores the feeling of watching a relationship slip away while questioning your own worth. “I wrote this song about watching someone I loved slowly pull away and constantly blaming myself for it,” Little explains. The title reflects that emotional state — being stuck in patterns that feel impossible to escape. “Quicksand is so hard to escape once you’re in it. I kept having these thoughts about whether I was enough for this person. It felt like an emotional quicksand.”
