Aubrey Plaza’s upcoming Prime Video series, Kevin, is set to premiere on April 20, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video. The show features a housecat named Kevin who decides he no longer wants to live with humans, sparking a comedic journey as he searches for a new home and attempts to make friends. The trailer, released recently, depicts Kevin’s adventures after his owners break up, highlighting his struggles to adapt to life on his own.
Along with the trailer, Amazon announced an impressive cast. Jason Schwartzman stars as Kevin, while Plaza plays Dana, one half of the couple whose breakup triggers Kevin’s quest. The series also boasts a star-studded lineup of regular cast members, including Whoopi Goldberg as Cupcake, John Waters as Armando, Aparna Nancherla as Judy, Gil Ozeri as Seth, and Amy Sedaris as Brandi. In addition, a host of guest stars will make appearances, such as Aaron Jackson, Addison Rae, Cary Elwes, Debby Ryan, Eugene Cordero, Jim O’Heir, Joe Locke, Lennon Parham, Maria Bamford, Patti LuPone, Quinta Brunson, Stephen Malkmus, and Tig Notaro.
The storyline centers on Kevin, the housecat who decides he’s had enough of living with humans. According to a report from THR, the series is loosely inspired by a real-life breakup involving a couple and the cat caught in the middle of their split.
Joe Wengert, known for Big Mouth, will write and serve as showrunner for Kevin. Aubrey Plaza will also produce the series through her Evil Hag Productions, alongside Dan Murphy, author of The Legend of the Christmas Witch and its sequel.
