Netflix has released the official trailer for “Funny AF,” an upcoming comedy competition series hosted by Kevin Hart, star of “Ride Along.” The show is set to premiere its first four episodes on April 20, with episodes 5 and 6 following on April 27. The semi-final (Episode 7) and final (Episode 8) will be streamed live on Netflix at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET on May 4 and May 5, respectively.
In “Funny AF,” Kevin Hart leverages his experience in transforming a mic and a dream into comedy superstardom. The series seeks to discover the next big comedy star by showcasing rising stand-up comedians from across the country. These hopefuls aim to emulate Kevin’s journey from performing in small clubs to headlining their own specials. The show offers an unfiltered look at the challenges, successes, and setbacks faced by aspiring comedians as they compete for fame.
The official synopsis describes the series as a competition judged by Kevin Hart and a panel of comedy heavyweights, including Keegan-Michael Key, Tom Segura, Kumail Nanjiani, Chelsea Handler, and Nikki Glaser. Throughout the competition, judges will decide which contestants advance, providing behind-the-scenes insight into the pressures and triumphs of building a stand-up career. The ultimate goal is to find a fresh voice in comedy with the talent, perspective, and punchlines to become a household name.
The competition culminates in live final rounds, where a global audience will vote to determine the winner.
The trailer features Kevin Hart hosting the event alongside celebrity judges and gives viewers a sneak peek of some of the participating comedians.
“Funny AF” is produced by Bill Dixon, Liz Cook, San Heng, and Jason Raff. This marks another collaboration between Kevin Hart and Netflix, following his recent stand-up special, “Kevin Hart: Acting My Age,” released last year. The series is executive produced by Hart, Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, Luke Kelly-Clyne, Meghan Hoffman, Jeff Clanagan, and Jenny Groom. It is produced by Hartbeat and Alfred Street Industries.
