A highly anticipated adaptation is in the works: a Metal Gear Solid movie is officially underway, with the directors of Final Destination Bloodlines attached to the project. According to a recent report from THR, the film will be directed by the duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, marking their first project under a new first-look deal with Sony Pictures that covers all of the studio’s film labels.
The Metal Gear Solid franchise, created by legendary game designer Hideo Kojima, has long been considered a cinematic masterpiece within the gaming community. This upcoming film adaptation will be the first time the franchise is brought to the big screen, despite previous reports of a project in development from director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who is no longer associated with it.
The franchise’s story centers around Snake, a special forces operative on a mission to uncover the secrets of the superweapon known as Metal Gear. Spanning numerous games, the series is renowned for its complex narrative and groundbreaking gameplay.
Commenting on the project, Lipovsky and Stein expressed their excitement, describing the franchise as “nothing short of a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that forever revolutionized video games. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.”
