Angel Studios and Wonder Project have released an exciting new trailer for their upcoming historical war epic, Young Washington. The film offers a fresh look at America’s most iconic founding father long before he became the portrait on the dollar bill, revealing the early years of George Washington’s journey.
Set to premiere nationwide in theaters on July 3, 2026, the release coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Directed by Jon Erwin, Young Washington chronicles Washington’s formative years as a soldier, showcasing the challenges and dangers he faced on the path to leadership.
William Franklyn-Miller stars as the young George Washington, bringing to life the future president in his early struggles. The film features a distinguished cast, including Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley as Robert Dinwiddie, and Golden Globe winners Kelsey Grammer and Mary-Louise Parker. Andy Serkis, also a Golden Globe nominee, portrays General Edward Braddock, while Joel Smallbone of the Grammy-winning duo for KING + COUNTRY joins the cast.
The movie’s synopsis states, “Before he was the Father of a Nation, he was a soldier fighting to survive.” It continues, “A single misstep thrusts young George Washington into a global conflict, testing his honor, loyalty, and courage.” As alliances shift and the frontier erupts into war, Young Washington promises to tell a compelling story of resilience and heroism in America’s early days.
