Sophie Thatcher and Joe Alwyn have been cast in the upcoming thriller directed by Christopher Andrews, known for his film Bring Them Down. Production is set to begin this September in Poland. Joining Thatcher and Alwyn is actress Erin Kellyman, who will also star in the film, titled Cavendish.
The movie’s plot centers around Thatcher’s character, a young bride accused of witchcraft on her wedding day, who is then pursued by Alwyn’s character, a relentless witch hunter. The story also features Kellyman as a sharp-witted poacher on the fringes of society. The official synopsis (via Deadline) describes the film as:
“1645: Accused of witchcraft on her wedding day, a privileged young bride (Thatcher) is pursued by a ruthless witch hunter (Alwyn). Forced into an uneasy alliance with a sharp-witted poacher living on the margins of society (Kellyman), the two women fight back, turning their powerlessness into strength through violence, wit, and defiance.”
Cavendish marks Thatcher’s return to the thriller genre, following her acclaimed roles in Companion (2025), Heretic (2024), as well as Prospect, The Boogeyman, and MaXXXine. She has also appeared on television in When the Streetlights Go On and Yellowjackets. Her upcoming project, Her Private Hell, is slated for release later this year, where she stars alongside Charles Melton, Havana Rose Liu, and Diego Calva.
