Dolly Doops Drops Single “I Need A Doctor”

featuring @dollydoops

Rising London-based queer femme artist Dolly Doops returns with ‘I Need A Doctor’, the lead single from her forthcoming debut EP, due later this year. It’s a track that leans into vulnerability without losing its edge, exploring mental overload while offering a sense of connection for those who feel the same.

‘I Need A Doctor’ is available now on your streaming service of choice via APOLLO Distribution.

Opening as a stripped-back, melodic pop moment, ‘I Need A Doctor’ gradually builds into something more expansive playing with an energetic energy that feels distinctly her. The shift feels intentional, mirroring the internal escalation of thoughts the song explores.

Speaking on the track, Dolly Doops says: “I Need A Doctor’ was inspired by being an insanely ‘Type B’ person, as TikTok would diagnose me. Seegz and I wrote a few versions before veering in this direction. In this final version lyrically we focussed on the paralysis of a busy neurodivergent brain, the literal brain freeze when messages are piling up and the anxiety around it,  the set backs and faults from being a deeply empathetic person. We tried to still be playful and explorative with the images and colours in the words.”

She continues: I think my favourite thing about this song is the combination of sounds, there’s elements of darker side pop and synth pop as well as some random instrument sounds we found that felt fun and a bit out of the box. There’s layers and layers of vocals, mine and Seegz, some subtly, stacked up as harmonies, vocoders and FX.”

Dolly Doops continues to present herself as an artist unafraid to speak openly, whether that’s about queer relationships, women’s rights, or mental health. Her work resonates through capturing everyday emotional experiences and translating them into something honest and easy to recognise yourself in.

With more releases on the way and live shows planned across the UK, ‘I Need A Doctor’ marks the next step in an artist establishing her place in the UK pop scene.
