Adam Sandler and his beloved cast are set to reunite for the third installment of the popular Grown Ups franchise. During Netflix’s recent upfronts presentation (via THR), the streaming giant revealed that Grown Ups 3 is officially in the works. Kyle Newacheck has been tapped to direct the film, working from a script penned by Sandler and longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy.

Details about the plot and cast remain under wraps, so it’s unclear whether the original ensemble from the first two movies will reprise their roles. However, given the series’ ensemble nature, it’s highly likely that Sandler will gather his familiar group for this upcoming installment.

The Grown Ups series began in 2010, introducing audiences to a story about childhood friends—Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Salma Hayek—reuniting with their families after the passing of their beloved basketball coach. The franchise’s first film was a commercial success, followed by a sequel in 2013 that expanded the cast with stars like Andy Samberg, Taylor Lautner, and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

While Dennis Dugan directed the first two films, Sandler will now team up with Kyle Newacheck, who previously directed Happy Gilmore 2 for Netflix. Rumors about a third Grown Ups film have been circulating for years, with Kevin James hinting at the possibility over recent years. Collectively, the first two movies have grossed over $500 million worldwide, cementing their status as some of the biggest comedies of the past decade.
