Days after revealing her third album, Daughter From Hell, singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has released its lead single, “Hit the Wall.” The music video, directed by Renell Medrano, captures Abrams in a surreal journey through a series of blue doors opening into dreamlike worlds. In one scene, she sits on a hospital bed while doctors hold up inkblots; in another, she walks down an eerie corridor where twins wait at the end, reminiscent of The Shining. The video concludes on a poignant note, with Abrams singing in front of a burning tree, proclaiming, “I’m not a problem you can solve.”
Daughter From Hell is set to arrive on July 17 via Interscope Records. Abrams co-wrote and produced the album with her longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner. On Instagram, Dessner shared that they began working on the project the same day they recorded Abrams’ hits “That’s So True” and “I Told You Things” from the Secret of Us deluxe edition.
