Radio Silence to Direct ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ Movie Based on Iconic Book Series

Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have been tapped to direct a new film adaptation of the beloved “Choose Your Own Adventure” book series, according to Deadline. The interactive series, known for its innovative format where readers make choices that influence the story’s outcome, will be brought to the big screen under their direction.

The film will feature a screenplay by Tom Bissell, a WGA Award winner renowned for his work on projects like Andor and The Disaster Artist. Currently, details about the plot of the “Choose Your Own Adventure” movie remain under wraps. The series itself is written in the second person, placing the reader directly in the protagonist’s shoes as they navigate different story paths. Originally created by Edward Packard, the franchise has significantly influenced popular culture, notably inspiring Netflix’s Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which adopted an interactive storytelling format reminiscent of the books.

This upcoming adaptation from 20th Century Studios marks the first major film based on the “Choose Your Own Adventure” series. Radio Silence, known for hits like Ready or Not, Scream VI, and Abigail, recently worked on the successful sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026). The film grossed nearly $43 million worldwide against a $14 million budget and received positive reviews, holding a 74% on the Tomatometer and 89% on the Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes.

In addition to the “Choose Your Own Adventure” project, Radio Silence is set to direct the next Mummy film, which will feature the reunion of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. That movie is expected to arrive sometime around 2028.

As for the “Choose Your Own Adventure” movie, an official release date has not yet been announced.
