Paul Sparks and Ava Threat have been cast in the upcoming Apple Original Films production, Liminal, starring Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The film will be directed by Louis Leterrier.
Produced by Apple Studios, Liminal is a sci-fi action-thriller adapted from the AWA graphic novel Telepaths by Eisner Award-winning creators J. Michael Straczynski, Steve Epting, and Brian Reber. Details about Sparks and Threat’s specific roles, as well as the plot, remain under wraps. The story is set in a world where, following an electromagnetic disturbance, ten percent of the population suddenly gains telepathic abilities.
Joining the cast are Tom Pelphrey, Franka Potente, and Tony Award-winner Tracy Letts. Zach Studin will produce for AWA Studios, while Kevin Walsh will produce for The Walsh Company under his overall deal with Apple Studios. Ray Angelic will serve as an executive producer, alongside Straczynski, Epting, and Reber. The screenplay is written by Justin Rhodes. Co-producers include Patrick McNamara for The Walsh Company and Juliet Kirby.
Paul Sparks is known for his role in three seasons of the Apple TV+ series Physical, opposite Rose Byrne. His other credits include Joe Picket, Waco, Castle Rock, Boardwalk Empire, and House of Cards.
Ava Threat is recognized for her role as Imani in the BET+ film The Day Before Christmas, as well as her recurring role in Beauty in Black and her co-starring role in NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
Sparks is represented by Circle Management + Production and Gersh, while Threat is represented by McLain Entertainment, Formation Talent Agency, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
