Renowned horror filmmaker Damien Leone, creator of the Terrifier series, is teaming up with legendary director Sam Raimi for his next project. The upcoming film, titled Tortures of the Damned, will be an original story produced by Lionsgate, following the success of Terrifier 4. Leone will serve as writer, producer, and director, while Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce through their Ghost House label. Specific plot details remain under wraps.
Lionsgate expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, with President Erin Westerman stating, “We’re incredibly proud and excited to partner with Damien Leone on his first original film after the beloved Terrifier series. Damien is a true genre auteur with a unique vision, and we look forward to bringing this bold new project to life while strengthening his connection with fans worldwide.” The studio also released a teaser image on social media, showing a mysterious white silhouette against a black background, though it offers little insight into the film’s content.
Scott O’Brien and Pavan Kalidindi from Lionsgate will oversee the project, with Ghost House’s Romel Adam and Jose Cañas serving as executive producers.
Leone is best known for directing and writing all three Terrifier films, as well as All Hallows’ Eve, Frankenstein vs. The Mummy, and All Hallows’ Eve 2. His Terrifier franchise introduced audiences to the chilling character Art the Clown, who also appears in other Leone works. A fourth installment is currently in pre-production, set in a new holiday-themed setting, which Leone has hinted will serve as the conclusion to the series.
Sam Raimi gained fame with his cult horror franchise Evil Dead and directed Sony’s acclaimed Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire. His most recent film, Send Help, released this year, was well-received by both critics and audiences.
As of now, Tortures of the Damned does not have a confirmed release date.
