This is your exclusive first look at Chris Hemsworth and Taron Egerton in the crime-thriller Kockroach, which has recently completed filming in Australia.
The film, set in New York City and adapted from William Lashner’s novel, follows a mysterious outsider who challenges the city’s criminal underworld. As he rises to become a formidable boss, the story explores themes of power and transformation in a city where dominance is everything.
The cast also includes Rachel Sennott, Zazie Beetz, Alec Baldwin, and Brian Geraghty. Directed by Matt Ross, the film features a screenplay by Jonathan Ames (You Were Never Really Really Here), with revisions by Ross himself.
Producers Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) and Christina Weiss Lurie (Persuasion) are behind the project, with Black Bear handling international rights. CAA Media Finance and Range Media Partners are co-representing domestic sales.
Lashner’s novel reimagines Franz Kafka’s classic tale The Metamorphosis, in which a man wakes up to find himself transformed into a cockroach. The film is said to incorporate a fun yet gory supernatural element, with Hemsworth’s character transforming from a cockroach into a gangster.
Earlier this week, Hemsworth shared photos from the shoot on social media, describing the experience as “possibly the most fun I’ve had on a set” and teasing that the project features “one hell of a wild script.”
