Lily James, is set to headline the upcoming horror film Seasons (formerly titled My Wife and I Bought a Ranch), directed by Drew Hancock. This project marks Hancock’s follow-up to his previous film Companion, produced by New Line Cinema, as confirmed by Deadline.
Seasons is based on a viral short story by Matt and Harrison Query that originally appeared on Reddit before being expanded into a full-length novel. The story centers on a married couple who purchase their dream ranch, only to uncover that the land is haunted by ancient spirits. As the seasons change, the couple must endure increasingly disturbing rituals to survive.
Drew Hancock will both direct and write the screenplay for the film. The project is produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine of 21 Laps, alongside Jason Blum and Michael Clear from Atomic Monster, as well as Scott Glassgold of 12:01 Films and Dan Cohen. This film represents the third collaboration between 21 Laps and Atomic Monster, who recently gained significant success with A24’s Backrooms. That horror film, directed by 21-year-old Kane Parsons, has become A24’s highest-grossing release worldwide.
