Rupert Grint stars as a father confronting a demonic child in the trailer for Nightborn. This upcoming fantasy horror film is directed by Finnish filmmaker Hanna Bergholm, who is best known for her body-horror movie Hatching.
The official synopsis of Nightborn reveals: “With dreams of building the perfect family, Saga and her British husband Jon move to an isolated house deep in the Finnish forest—where she spent much of her childhood. But after their baby is born, despite reassurances from those around her, Saga senses that something is terribly wrong with her son. As their marriage begins to unravel, Jon struggles to support his wife, but only Saga suspects the terrifying truth about their newborn.”
The trailer opens with Jon and Saga settling into their remote Finnish home. They decide to expand their family, and soon they’re seen as new parents with a newborn. However, things quickly take a dark turn—everything about their child seems off, from its unsettling appearance to an insatiable hunger for Saga’s blood. The rest of the trailer follows Jon and Saga as they grapple with their seemingly demonic baby.
Rupert Grint, best known for his role as Ronald Weasley in the Harry Potter series, plays Jon, while Seidi Haarla, recognized for Compartment No. 6, portrays Saga. The cast also features Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, Rebecca Lacey, and John Thomson.
Nightborn had its world premiere at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in February, where it was part of the Main Competition. The film has received mostly positive reviews and currently holds a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The movie is set to debut on Shudder for streaming beginning July 31, 2026.
