Prime Video has announced that its limited series “The Greatest,” centered on the legendary Muhammad Ali, will premiere on Wednesday, November 4. The news was revealed Saturday during a presentation at the Essence Festival of Culture, attended by creator, showrunner, and executive producer Ben Watkins, star Jaalen Best, along with cast members Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy. Along with the announcement, Prime Video also released a first-look teaser, which is available above.
Starring Jaalen Best as Muhammad Ali, “The Greatest” promises an intimate portrayal of the life of the iconic boxer, humanitarian, and worldwide figure. The series is executive produced by Lonnie Ali, the widow of Muhammad Ali, and holds the distinction of being the first authorized scripted series about his life. Spanning eight episodes, the series will explore key moments in Ali’s personal and professional journey, both inside and outside the boxing ring.
