Apple TV has officially greenlit a new thriller series titled Guilty Creatures, inspired by Mikita Brottman’s acclaimed true-crime book Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder in Tallahassee, Florida. The series will star and be executive produced by Emmy winner Julia Garner, known for her roles in Ozark and Weapons.

Renowned director Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Pam & Tommy) will helm the series, with Stuart Zicherman (The Americans, The Shrink Next Door) serving as showrunner and executive producer.

Produced by Tomorrow Studios—an ITV Studios partner—the series was developed through the studio’s first-look deals with Garner’s Alma Margo and Gillespie’s Fortunate Jack Productions. The screenplay adaptation is by Sarah DeLappe (Bodies Bodies Bodies). Set against the vibrant yet dark backdrop of the Florida panhandle, the story explores a passionate, forbidden romance between two young, religious lovers that leads to murder. The narrative delves into their complex lives, examining the emotional toll of living as killers for nearly two decades.

Executive producers include Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Alissa Bachner for Tomorrow Studios, along with Garner via Alma Margo. Zicherman and DeLappe also serve as executive producers, with Gillespie and Annie Marter of Fortunate Jack Productions joining in that role. Brottman herself will be an executive producer.

Julia Garner, who gained fame from Ozark, will also be seen next in the limited series The Altruists alongside Anthony Boyle, also on Netflix, where she serves as an executive producer. She is currently filming Tyrant with Charlize Theron for Amazon MGM Studios, directed by David Weil. Garner will also appear in the upcoming season of Apple TV’s The Studio. Last year, she starred in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the Oscar-nominated horror Weapons.
