The beloved franchise, The Cheetah Girls, is making a comeback to the small screen with the new film, The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen. This latest installment has been greenlit for both Disney Channel and Disney+, exciting fans old and new.
Debra Martin Chase, who served as executive producer for the original three movies, is returning to oversee this new chapter. Raven-Symoné also reprises her iconic role as Galleria, alongside Adrienne Bailon, who returns as Chanel. The cast also includes Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter reprising their roles as Dorothea and Juanita. Additionally, Sabrina Bryan makes a special appearance as Dorinda, and Sophia Bush joins in a supporting role as Jennifré.
Filming is underway in South Africa this month, with a fresh cast of young talent joining the franchise. Leah Sava’ Jeffries, known for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, plays Galleria’s daughter Faith. Carmen Sanchez, from Electric Bloom, takes on Chanel’s sister Dior. Newcomers Kaileen Chang as Ruby, Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn, and Kamogelo Ramashala, discovered during Disney’s global casting call, as Kendi will also feature prominently.
The story follows Galleria (Symoné) and Chanel (Bailon), along with Galleria’s daughter Faith and her friends, as they travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. Throughout their adventure, the four teenage girls navigate friendship, find their voices, and embrace the true spirit of the Cheetah Girls. They work together to save the preserve and ultimately step onto the stage as the next generation of Cheetah Girls.
