Chelsea Cutler’s latest release, What Else?, is a refreshing ode to living in the moment. The song, which Chelsea describes as feeling “like summer,” captures the essence of carefree fun, spontaneity, and the unapologetic pursuit of joy.

Chelsea’s words about “What Else?” via her substack reveal a song born out of a desire to let loose and embrace the present. She shares that the track was crafted during a chaotic summer in Los Angeles—an era of jetting between New York and California, couch surfing, studio lockouts, and endless adventures. Amidst the whirlwind, Chelsea found inspiration in a simple yet profound question she often asked during a new romantic interest’s company: “What else?”

“This question,” she explains, “felt like a symbol of just having fun, following my intuition, and not taking things too seriously.” The song’s playful spirit is rooted in Chelsea’s intentional decision to give herself permission to enjoy life’s fleeting moments, even amid a period of reflection, growth, and change.

Interestingly, “What Else?” wasn’t initially destined for her upcoming record. It sat untouched in a Dropbox folder for nearly a year until a last-minute decision to revisit it turned everything around. Chelsea recounts how reconnecting with the track reignited her love for it, leading her to make the bold choice of releasing it as the album’s next single.
This resurgence underscores the song’s spontaneous origin—an organic burst of creativity that, despite its casual beginnings, now stands as a central piece of Chelsea’s latest work. It embodies her ethos of living authentically and embracing the unpredictable nature of life.

Chelsea’s approach to her music is rooted in vulnerability—an openness to explore every facet of her experiences. Her new record is a mosaic of emotions: heartbreak, self-questioning, growth, and, crucially, the joy of meeting new people and trying new things. “What Else?” exemplifies her desire to capture the lighter, more playful side of life, reminding listeners that vulnerability isn’t solely reserved for moments of pain but can also be found in living freely and having fun.
