The biopic Michael broke numerous records, crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office and becoming the highest-grossing musical biopic in history.
According to Deadline, Jackson will join the cast of Supermax, an intense high-stakes action movie from Miramax and Amazon MGM. He will work alongside leading stars Will Smith and AnnaSophia Robb. Although details about his specific character remain under wraps, reports suggest his role will be pivotal to the film’s central plot.
This casting milestone follows Jackson’s remarkable success with Michael, which not only achieved commercial dominance but also became Lionsgate’s highest-grossing film of all time.
Supermax centers on two FBI agents, played by Smith and Robb, investigating a seemingly impossible murder within a heavily guarded maximum-security prison cell—an enclosed setting with no apparent entry or exit. The film explores a locked-room mystery, blending elements of suspense, crime, and action in a tense and unusual environment.
Directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by David Weil and David J. Rosen—who also serve as executive producers—the film is backed by Miramax and Westbrook Studios. Producers include Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman, Will Smith, and Adam Fishbach.
